I always wondered why they didn't go back to being a couple after Roman returned from being murdered.

Camila Banus reprises role as Gabi...
I'd like to have Gabi back just to see if CB would have chemistry with BF's Chad. He's my favorite newcomer and I think the two of them might work well together. Camilla was doing some impressive work at the end of her run. :)

If Aiden is secretly a murderer or other unsavory character, then I want *HOPE* to figure it out, and be her own knight in shining armor and rescue herself with her kick-butt attitude.

If the writers make Hope stupid and naive, and Aiden is a creep and she can't see it, and Bo has to rescue her, I will be so pissed off. I cannot express the level of ANGER that I will feel if they ever go there.

Regardless if Aiden is a good guy or a bad guy or a grey character, I want *Hope* to figure it out, and to solve her own problems.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's where this is going. I'd bet a month's salary that Reckell will be back in time for the 50th and Aiden will be gone in a flash. That's why, despite the fact that I like KA and DC together, I'm not putting all my eggs in their basket. He'll be sacrificed if PR returns.

soapcentral Kassie DePaiva interview

I might be the only one not bothered by the closeness in age between DePaiva and Shaughnessy. Maybe that would change if I saw them in the same scene, but I don't think so. It's a soap. Most actors are far too young to be playing the parents of their co-stars anyway in real life. But with DePaiva saying this, I wonder if they plan on killing off Shane. We know Kimberly's coming back. And with this recent blurb about Shane's health not being that great... Shane's death would have effects on Eve and Theresa and could push story for both characters.

And again, another missed opportunity from the show not bringing Archer on as Sarah instead of Serena. We'd get to see DePaiva and Archer going at it since there's already history between Eve and Sarah. Eve ran over Sarah with a car!
Oh, my. The thought of Shane being killed off (even off screen) makes me feel extremely queasy. :'(

I would hate for the door to be shut on future guest appearances from Charles. Of course, Patsy could come back to Days full time as Kim if Shane were to die.

Hmm...

Casting call for new character...
Jeez. Just once I'd like to see a casting call that says "attractive" or "pleasant appearance" instead of the overused words "gorgeous" and "sexy." Not every character has to be a freaking super model!

If I recall, didn't Shane save Drew instead of Roman. He was only able to get one ISA agent out, and he chose his brother over Roman Brady or am I dreaming?
Yes. It was explained to the Bradys that Shane didn't really know Roman at the time.

Of course, when Shane debuted on the show in 1984, it was said that he had never met Roman in person and had only spoken to him over the phone.

I really want to kill Drew Donovan. He sounds like such scum from reading these summaries. I haven't felt this much hatred for a character on DAYS in years. And it's not hatred where I don't want to see them on the show (Daniel, Rafe, Chad, etc.). And these are just summaries! I can only imagine how much better it'd be having been watching at the time.

It comes off differently when you see it. Drew's obviously up to no good from the start, but it's more goofy than malevolent. A snarking anti-Shane.
Drew was sort of a bumbling fool. As I recall, he romanced Calliope briefly. When she found out he was rather a cad, she referred to him as a "slimy Limey." :blulaugh:
A few things. Shane had never met Roman personally, but told Bo that they had spent hours on radio transmissions. Shane said Roman was like a brother to him in their first scene together after Roman's death. This actually makes some sense since Shane was a captain and would have been overseeing operations.

In 1988, Shane said that it boiled down to saving his brother versus saving an agent. He didn't know Drew had turned bad. The Bradys understood that, but felt the real betrayal was that Shane never told them Roman was still alive and let them think he was dead. This gets into a very problematic aspect of the storyline, which is when did Shane supposedly find out Roman was alive. Roman died in Nov. 1984. Shane then came to Salem to chase Stefano and was there until March 1985, at which point, he quit the ISA. He returned in June 1985 to help Nickerson with a special project -- Victor -- which lasted into November, by which point Roman (RoJohn) was already the Pawn. So when was this rescue mission.

That entire aspect of the storyline bugs me, but my biggest pet peeve is how Shane never really gets a chance to redeem himself on the island. That is a story beat that really is missing. On the other hand, I did like how the Bradys' anger with Shane played out, culminating in the great Christmas scene between Shane and Roman.

As for Drew, he was fun and it was pretty clear that Charles Shaughnessy had a blast playing him. The summaries don't deal with why he joined Stefano. Drew was kind of bumbling compared to straight-arrow Shane and felt inferior because of how Shane always surpassed Drew in everything. That included working for the ISA. Drew joined first, while Shane was still at Cambridge, but Shane joined later and rose through the ranks quickly. So Drew felt like he could be better than Shane by doing something that Shane would never do. On-screen, it played out pretty well and Drew did not seem nearly as evil as the summaries make it sound.
I also recall a scene where Drew alluded to having dated Emma first, introduced her to Shane and then lost her when she and Shane fell in love.

Ugh. I never thought I'd say this, but after seeing today's steaming cow-patty of a show, I wish Maggie and Abe had stayed dead in 2003 (Maggie for the endless, weepy Melanie/Tan propping and Abe for being an unrepentant ASSHOLE to Nicole.)

I hope Meredith is a bat-shit crazy, fresh-out-of-the-asylum whackjob and played by a compelling actress. :)

Mereith will be portrayed by Julie Tolivar.
She's done a lot of theater.
Here's the actress' website, which has her resume, photos, and clips, etc:

Judging from her reel ... yeah, she can do crazy. :D

She's also got those eyes... you've got to be able to sell it with the eyes, like Jane Windsor did so brilliantly with Emma.

Spoilers for the Week of December 15th
Even though Hope is a Brady by marriage, she needs to participate in the Brady ritual of having your love interest's "presumed to be dead" spouse/former love interest return from the grave to wreak havoc.

Roman had Anna (and, actually Marlena)
Bo had Megan
Kimberly had Shane's wife Emma
Kayla had Steve's exes Britta and Marina

Hell, Hope was a "back from the dead" spouse herself.

I hope Meredith is a bat-shit crazy, fresh-out-of-the-asylum whackjob and played by a compelling actress. :)

This still tears me apart every time I see it. I agree with PALMommy, this is one of the best scenes in the show's history. There is absolutely no reason why they can't create drama like this today. We need new writers!!

I completely forgot about Alice sharing an apartment with Calliope, of all people. The notion that Tom and Alice's marriage license was invalid was silly, but it made for some fun scenes. :D

Also, whenever they'd bring up Marlena (the perfume scented scarf this time), I would utterly pine for her return to the show. I missed Dee Hall so much, and the show did a pretty good job making us suspect that Marlena was still alive.
