I am not surprised that Nicole is willing to go after Deimos because of what happened to Maggie given their new relationship based on her engagement to Daniel at the time of his death Its weird though that the show appears to be making Maggie the mother figure for Nicole and Theresa as well as Brady.

Brady and Theresa. He's so worried about so many people and now Nicole.

Except not Eric at all.
Given that Eric and Caroline were the only people who stood by Theresa when she arrived in Salem and had problems with quite a few people and Eric's relationship with Eric it is weird that neither one of them have mentioned the fact that Eric has gone to prison to serve five years or expressed any anxiety about it.The writers have had everyone blathering on about Daniel four months after his death. They could have given them two minutes of dialogue about Eric's situation. It might have made them both a little more likeable.Their failure to even mentionis name makes it appear neither of them even knew Eric.
They can't take a moment out of their busy kiriakas days to worry about the blacks or Brady's. I feel like they don't even have them mention it because then they'd have to explain why they weren't there or stopped to see Marlena, Caroline etc. Caroline who also doesn't seem to care.
They could have fabricated a minor illness for Tate,or mention that Eric asked them not to be there so they were respecting his wishes,and/or mentioned some offscreen conversation with Belle,Roman,Marlena, and John to explain why they were not at the police station or sentencing.Heck, they could have been at the off screen setencing and later had a discussion of their last look at or words with Eric.It is just stupid to have these constant references to Daniel four months after he died and fail to have Theresa and/or Brady mention Eric going to prison as if it was no big deal.I hope they rectify this soon.

I think the show has Chad channeling EJ when I see Chad's suit and hair. His hair is not as high as EJ's hair during his last year but today when I looked at Chad's hair,I thought of Matt's reference to EJ as the Marge Simpson of Salem which made me smile.I miss Matt's comments. He used to crack me up.

Why Brady is forcing Summer to give Maggie another chance when he refused to do it for Eric or his father? :drunk:
Because he's so judgmental
He's also interferring moron.

Whatever acting notes they gave JLa from the other day didn't stick. He's back to gape mouth, duh acting. I was really hoping the actress who plays Jade was bringing out a better side of him, but it must have been a fluke.

I love Victor, but I think it's kinda nasty pressuring Nicole to sleep with Deimos all in the name of revenge for Maggie. He may say he'll make it worth her while in the end, but if she succeeds she'll have everything anyway. I'd rather have Nicole approach Victor with the plan because it would feel less like Victor is essentially pimping her. I want badass Nicole back. I'm all for her scheming. But, I want it to be for herself. I don't like the, I'm doing it for Maggie because that's what Daniel would want of me angle. Other than that - I want to see more of Nicole and Deimos getting tangled in a web of deception together. That sounds fun.

Was Summer on? Yeah, I didn't pay any attention to that.

I was fine with Finn being there for Kayla. I would think considering her condition and being a co-worker he would check in on her. I'm not on board with Kayla kicking out Steve. Just don't like the story going this way.

Maggie saying she wanted revenge??? Sigh. Josh needs to rest his revenge hungry pen and find other avenues of story.
Your description of JLa's "acting"style was right on target. He is much worse than whats his name Owens who last played Cameron, worse than Guy Wilson.Sal Stowers, and
VJ.While he may not have looked like Steve/Kayla,they should have cast the actor who played Chase to be Joey and cast JLa as Chase.

It's sad that the only spoiler for this week that I'm really interested in is one about two characters discussing a character that just exited.

I'm in a place with the show that I've never really been before. I'm ready for the change that's coming, but like...it's Dena, so I'm also not. I don't hate it enough to stop watching, and I'm glad that if it's going to be in this place that there are still several characters I enjoy, but it's weird to look forward to the future while simultaneously dreading it.
Days has screwed up so many stories and characters that I originally loved then hated that I always watch it looking toward the future but dreading what is to come. Now I just settle for characters and stories that don't cause me to clench my teeth or roll my eyes and look for rare nuggets which I believe are well done.I loved all of Eric's scenes with John,Marlena,Roman, and Jennfer last week and his last scene Friday getting on the bus with the other prisoners.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Lately VJ seems more natural in her scenes. She does well with KA and the actor playing Theo.I also thought she did well in her scenes with Abby,Thomas, and Chad. I really didn't think Days would attempt any romantic connection between Ciara and Chad,one-sided or otherwise, but after the scenes with Abby and Chad I could see the story going in that direction even with VJ.Sometimes it takes the younger actors a little longer to become comfortable on screen.
She's up and down. I actually don't think her and KA have the greatest mother/daughter chemistry. The biggest problem is that I never get any sort of flirty/romantic vibes from VJ yet.
I'm not saying they will go to Ciara and Chad righ away.Ciara is still traumatized by the rape so I'm happy they don't have her lusting after Chad. She needs to take baby steps toward a romance with Theo but later they could do something with her and Chad.Abby's relationship with Chad started a couple of years or more before she and EJ hooked up.

Edit: VJ and KA are not as great as other mother/daughters I have seen but since the rape I have noticed a marked improvement in their mother/daughter chemistry.

I have a feeling Ciara is going to be moving into the mansion. And Abby is going to be getting angrier by the minute.
If Thomas starts to bond with Ciara,I can visualize Abby being upset and frustrated by the situation rather than angry with Ciara and/or Chad.

I really did not think the show would go there with Chad and Ciara but I began to have second thoughts when I saw him sitting next to her on the couch while she was holding Thomas.Reminded me of scenes Abby had with EJ over the years prior to them hooking up.
I just can't imagine it due to the actress playing Ciara. On paper, it's perfect soap but visually, in live motion? :-/

Chad/Ciara is looking more like something that could really happen, with each new set of spoilers. I'm somewhat apprehensive about it, because I have just zero faith in the writers at this point.

I don't mind Kayla getting a bit of attention from Fynn, though. Good for you, girl. It's about time the dudes of Salem realized that Kayla is a total babe.

I don't want to see Eric in prison if we are going to get anything like Nick and Jensen.

Friday, April 14th Episode Discussion
I agree with other posters about Eric's last scenes today as he was getting on the bus.I think days did a great job showing Eric actually getting on the bus with others on their way to prison.I was totally surprised by the scene since I thought the phone call would be notifying them of the sentence and Marlena collapsing would be the last scene. Also totally surprised ,actually shocked by Eric kissing Jennifer before he left.

Summer gets on my nerves. She is too overwrought. She keeps blathering on about how she should leave but never goes away.If she honestly thinks Maggie would be better off without her,she should move on instead of constantly going to the hospital. She knows that Theresa does not like her, trust her,or want her in her home but that is the first place Summer goes when there is any kind of problem.
Why did she interrupt their date, leave the club, then go to the apartment Theresa shares with Brady. She keeps telling Brady she should leave when knows that Brady is constantly telling her she should stay and Maggie cares about her.Summer clearly has a longer prior relationship with Dario, why is she clinging to Brady? In my opinion Summer was playing Brady when she kept defending Theresa while Theresa was calling her out.

STOP SAYING MAGGIE WAS 17 WHEN SHE HAD SUMMER. It doesn't make sense!

I need a bomb to go off in Brady and Theresa's apartment. And Maggie's hospital room. And Victor's hospital room.
I don't recall when Victor had Maggies egg(s)stolen to create Daniel so I am still trying to figure out if the viewers are expected to believe Summer was five or more years older than Daniel.
It was when Sarah was conceived....so several years after Maggie left the farm.
I have hazy memory of Maggie being nineteen or early twenties when I first saw her.Since it has been established, based on DH's twenty year old jacket, that your memory is vastly superior to mine so based on the time of Sarah's conception, what would be the age differences of Summer,Daniel, and Sarah?

I also understand why Roman and Marlena were upset with Eric and Jennifer and why Roman was yelling. The yelling was caused by fear.
The worse thing a defendant can do is show up hung over and late when they are being sentenced for a crime that resulted in the death of a person and involved alcohol.Based on Eric having been a priest, his work in the school/community,his obvious contrition, no prior cimintial history, and probable statements on his behalf,Belle,Marlena, and Roman were likely hoping that Eric would receive probation or a year or two in a low security facility rather five years in a state prison with hardened criminals.

I really liked the Eric stuff today, and thought all of it was done well. For the episode. But I have some bigger picture issues.

Marlena. I thought she was written correctly today, but it highlighted everything they dropped. Tuesday was similar. She was determined to get him help on Tuesday and today she was so sad. She's been sad all along, but they've really just not focused on the family's response to his alcoholism at all. It was almost too little too late having that be a thing today. Almost.

It's ridiculous that none of the victim's family was around for the sentencing. Unfortunately, I guess Nicole would have been the only option. But Victor and Maggie didnt' even mention it.

Brady should have been involved in some way. Even if he's still mad. Belle should have had more than a passing line or two. Caroline should have been somewhere. Really, one of the alternate stories today could have even been some of the other Bradys meeting at the pub (Ciara, Hope, Joey, and Kayla have all mentioned Eric). Obviously that can't happen when they're acting like they're not related, but still.

This story had so much potential. It could have been so good. And they just didn't tap into any of it. The individual scenes along the way were good, but I don't know why they bothered in the first place if they weren't going to actually write the story.
Nicole should totally have been there for the sentencing.... it would have been a great moment for her to confront her anger and work out if sending Eric to prison is really the right response.
I'm happy Nicole was not at the sentencing.I am cringing at the thought of her wailing about how Eric destroyed her life when he caused the crash that killed Daniel. If I had seen that prior to Eric getting into the DOC van,I don't know that I would ever be able to like her again. If I never hear Nicole utter Daniel's name and refer to their love again,it will be too soon.

Yeah Days hit all time lows back then that summer of Santeen....it was bad IMHO and even if it wasn't entirely to blame I don't see what could make them extend that crap
Thanks.I tend to believe what you and Lysie post about these sorts of issues.Makes it more of a head scratcher that they would do it again.I must admit I know very litttle about the actual story.I couldn't get past the accents so I didn't follow the actual story.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deepSo, the flashbacks may have been a late insert and not in the original script.
I was reading the boards or tracking the ratings during this story.I just stopped watching during the Santeen period..Did the story have great/decent ratings and/or positive feedback from viewers in general?
They claimed it did and then stretched it longer than planned. If you look at the ratings from that time period, I'm not sure how they came to that conclusion. And no, I'm not saying the ratings were bad because of that story, but IDK how you can look at those and think anything needed to be dragged out then. I'd guess maybe the focus groups liked it? I've seen people since then say they loved it, but I don't remember anyone loving it when it aired. Maybe I just wasn't in the right places, though.
Thanks for answering.I hated it so much and in discussions since I joined this board I did not see much positive support so I just wondered if their was some other reason the show decided doing a similar story would be a good idea.Maybe the second time will be the charm although I am not holding out much hope that the story will be must see TV even though I like AZ.

Edit: You remembered a jacket DH wore almost twenty years ago.If you don't remember anyone saying they loved it while it was airing,it likely did not happen.
