Claire complained she was kissing her career goodbye. John said if she doesn't listen she'll kiss her life goodbye lol
What career? She has no recording contract yet. She has a YouTube channel with a few songs on it (not sure what quality they are). Her job is playing errand girl to Chloe, making appointments and picking up dry cleaning etc. Big deal. She is more upset about not being able to get connected to the internet than the safety of her family. She is a self-absorbed selfish spoiled brat.
Claire is a good example of how the writing for the character can make one like/dislike the character. Her total focus on the tablet while John was explaining safety prodedures to her and Marlena caused me to want John/Marlena to give her atleast a harsh lecture on the seriousness of the situation. The fact that she is still upset about her internet connection even after the close encounter which could have resulted in serious injury or death does make her appear to be a selfish idiot.

I think Joey would be useful as leverage if the villains are cornered.I don't see Roman,Abe,or anyone else in authority being willing to risk Joey's life.
I know one is paid decently and acting is a person's craft but honestly I don't think I could stay in the moment after someone spit in my face.
I have to go back and watch the show but I wonder if it appeared to anyone else that Joey just had rope wrapped around his ankles, his ankles were not actually tied to the chair or anything else.

I guess I don't find the power a big issue because quite a few residences/business invest in generators. Also the utility companies tend to restore power areas on a rolling basis not all at once.

I wonder why the John saving everyone scene or the paternity result scene was not the Friday cliffhanger?

Maybe I'm just confused as usual when watching this show, but why is Kate meeting Chloe's doctor at the hospital in Salem (the same hospital Marlena works at and the same hospital where that alley was that they all ended up almost getting killed in), when that doctor was supposedly in another town where Chloe, Phil and Deimos went to get that paternity test?

I think Kate went to the out of town doctor's office not to University Hospital.Based on the time it took Deimos to get there on Friday,it's probably right outside Salem.

I really liked the way Theresa was written today with Eve,Nicole, and Brady. She was worried about Nicole's safety indicating she should stay home given that the convicts were still on the loose.Indicated that she might not be deserving of a wedding gift since she was not actually married.Thought Brady might be distracted because something happened to Joey.Encouraging Brady to focus on Titan.Turning down Brady's offer to throw good money after bad to keep DJ Wear in business. For that alone I applaud her.I hope to never ever hear the words "DJ Wear" again. She was right about Tate only being a baby once.It makes sense that she would want to see him when he first sits up on his own, says his first word, takes his first steps.

I'm probably going to watch the show soon, but I have a random question. Does anyone else have a hard time gearing up to watch the show on Friday? I regularly do.
I don't.For some bizarre reason that I am at a loss to explain.I still expect to see a Friday cliffhanger.

I didn't see the problem with Deimos saying to go powder her nose. They were both just sort of being clever about saying she needed to leave him alone with Kate for a minute. She obviously knew he wasn't actually giving her an order to go powder her nose. But it was kind of an obnoxious bit of dialogue. All he had to say was "can you give me a minute alone with Kate?".
I agree,No problem with asking to speak with Kate alone but the words used to request privacy were bothersome.Surprising that Carolyn Culliton would have used them.

The panic room scenes were a little bit ridiculous because they took all their clothes off but I enjoyed the show. Gabi has no reason to feel uncomfortable, she is a model, it's not like she hasn't changed her clothes in front of other people before. And I'm sorry but Chad looks fine, he has the body of a healthy young man, I don't need all the guys on my TV to have the perfect beach body, that's almost a turnoff for me because chances are those guys spend half their time obsessing about their physique. Chad looks more relatable.
I am not advocating for a body builder physique. Its just that most young guys ,and some not so young guys,on television or in movies as leading men types usually avoid being seen with a paunchy belly.

I had issues with this episode. Way too many flashbacks. It bogged it down. I hated that they cut Steve being shot. It should have been the huge climax and instead it had me rewinding to see if I missed what happened! They totally screwed it up! WTH This should have been the most important story in the episode!

Yes it was stupid for Gabi and Chad to shed clothes, but it was also fun. And damnit, I need fun on my soap! I loved how natural Gabi and Chad come off. It felt like watching two friends stuck in a spot.

I already commented on how aggravating it was having a Hope play Nightingale to Aiden after she was spitting nails at him the last time they were together. That was a horrible setup. Pick a direction and keep to it.

Why would Lucas seem surprised Gabi was still in the mansion when he's sitting with Ari? That was absurd.

JJ saying you can't trust Claire was a highlight.

The weak ending made the episode disappointing.

Yeah,I thought it was weird that Lucas would think Gabi left without Arianna.
I also thought it was weird that Steve would make a move while Kayla and Joey were tied up with all three of the villains there and likely armed.
The show has been so horrible,it would take a lot more issues for me to find it disappointing.I may eyeroll certain characters/writing but on the whole I am so much happier with the show.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
I like Rafe.I hope he stays with the show.I don't mind him with Hope but I would like him much better with Nicole. That being said,he was written like a macho ass today. thought it was stupid to have Hope bandaging Aiden's hand and to have Rafe come in and begin behaving in such an aggressively overprotective manner. Also didn't like the way he put his hand on Hope's back when he appeared to notice Aiden looking in their direction. Was Rafe written like that in the Rafe/Sami/EJ era? I don't remember disliking him in those days as much as I disliked his behavior today.
Maybe his aggressive behavior was due to his dream in the tunnels where he thought he didn't do enough to protect Hope from Aiden. Here he comes across Aiden hurt and possibly playing on Hope's sympathy and it got his back up. Rafe's headstrong and passionate so I didn't find his behavior offensive. I'm glad he's not a whimpy character. I actually find him sexy when he's angry. He's a hot man.
I really like Rafe but there was something about his behavior in the pub that rubbed me the wrong way.Gave off a "my property" vibe to me.Hope already made it clear that she has chosen him and that she despises and distrusts Aiden and he has made it clear that he despises and distrusts Aiden so his behavior was overkill.Might have been more acceptable if the writing shown him to be insecure about Hope's feelings for him and attributed his attitude to his past experiences with Sami and EJ as well as Hope seeming to give Aiden a second chance when Aiden returned to Salem.

I rolled my eyes at Chad and Gabi taking off their clothes. It reminded me of the Rafe/Carrie scene without the music, thank God ,and they were in the room less than an hour.Chad taking off his pants was ridiculous.
Given that Gabi has been in professional modeling for years,I don't think its strange that she would think nothing of stripping down to her bra to keep cool.
Gabi looked great.Chad looked paunchy.

Ugh, Rafe is such a jerk.
Disagree....I do realize there are a few very vocal members here who constantly make disparaging remarks about the character, but that is not the feelings of others, many others.
Rafe is a good guy, who has put both his career and life on the line for those he cares about. And has done it many times. Bo did the same in the past. Was quite the contrast to brother "by the book" Roman.

So, writers have tried to pair him with Hope. Big deal. Do I think they have chemistry...No. do I like the pairing? No I don't. But I appreciate the character, like him, and blame writers, not charachter.
Today, IMO, he acted like a jerk. I can't really speak for the many others who watched today and didn't think he was a jerk. To each their own.

Oh. Ari did walk around some today. Actually she ran right out of the room.
I have to re-watch the episode.I didn't see her feet touch the floor. Its ridiculous that Gabi is pushing a baby stroller around given Arianna's size. They really should ditch the baby stroller.

These Hope & Aiden scenes just seem out of place with the other scenes and stories going on. Hope should still be either at Horton house with her family and daughter or still at Kayla's with her dear friend. As a cop, mother, friend she should be way more concerned about the open case of the escaped convicts instead of old cases. I understand the whole I'm guilty but don't want anybody to know or get caught feeling she must have, but Hope should at this moment be more concerned about the current problem.
I agree.Hope should have stayed with Kayla until Steve returned.I don't see how she or Steve would have a reasonable basis for belief that Joey would be adquate protection for Kayla given that she is the likely target of an escaped convict who clearly holds a grudge against one or more persons in Salem.
I have to give credit where credit is due.James did a decent job as Joey today despite the fact that he was written as a moron for leaving the house while his mother was sleeping just to contact Jade when he could have done so by just going to another area of the room.He seems to have moved away from that open mouth gape and over emoting.

I would think Jennifer would be on the list for Clyde because of JJ. I remember him acting creepy with her. Rafe and Hope? Really? I know they had been investigating him some, but that got dropped.
I would love for Jennifer and Clyde to have scenes again, I quite liked when he showed up at her door and creeped her out.
I really want Clyde,Xander, and Milo to escape the clutches of the long arm of the law so each of them alone/together can pop back into Salem now and again to wreak more havoc in Salem. All of them are really good actors. It will be a shame if the show loses any of them.

As long as Daniel never comes back..I don't care who else returns. But since he's one of Dena's pets..I bet he will be resurrected.
The only good thing about Brady getting Daniel's heart, the maudlin crap we had to endure as a result, and Eric going to prison is that is it extremely unlikely we will have to deal with the fiasco of Daniel returning to Salem.

I am trying to understand why Chad would not have immediately notified police/henchmen that Clyde was at Kate's residence as soon as he heard his voice. He seemed to have had time to call/text before entering the room.
I didn't see Chad.Clyde,or Kate with the gun after the struggle between Chad and Clyde.Did anyone see what happened to the gun?
I thought that was what Kate was going to do. I wonder if it went under the dresser or something and LK couldn't get to it.

That makes "Days" sense. Its cheaper to ignore it than reshoot it.
