Guiding Light Actor Bares All For Full Monty
(KDKA) PITTSBURGH One of daytime televisions biggest stars is calling Pittsburgh home for at least for a week or so.
Robert Newman, who plays Josh Lewis on Guiding Light, is taking on a new role at the Benedum Theater.
Newman is starring in the Full Monty.
He plays the role of Harold, one of six unemployed steelworkers.
"He has not told his wife that he has been let go," said Newman of his character. "Six months have gone by. He still dresses in a suit and a tie five days a week… kisses her goodbye and leaves. She thinks he is going to work. He's looking for a job and the credit cards are jacking up like crazy."
So to pay the bills, the guys decide to form a male strip tease act.
They strip down to nothing on stage but Newman says the show is about a lot more than just baring the flesh.
"This crazy idea brings them all together and their relationships to each other build,
said Newman. "Their relationships to their significant others build and change and they become better people."
Newman is no novice to the stage.
In fact he has worked extensively in theater calling it his first love.
He performs on stage about once a year
