They kinda go back and forth between Lexie and Dan, but they've since shifted focus to Dan. [random tangent] I think they really missed out on an Abe/Lexie storyline where her faithfulness to him becomes an issue. Ever since she came back, they haven't done anything with that. The show has so many characters going back and forth with the same ol', that they should've really utilized some of the other characters on the show. Lexie should have had a fling with Dan, to where Abe eventually finds out and dumps her. This would've coincided with Dan finally succumbing to his feelings for Chelsea and then you bring the Kate factor in later. What you'd have is some scumbag playboy doctor character. I would say that, although they don't get rid of her altogether, they strip Lexie of her Chief of Staff position and hand it to das wunderdoctor Daniel. He could lie to the Salem Hospital's board of directors (or whoever controls this stuff) and say that she said if he didn't shack up with her that his job would be at risk. Then Lexie could find out that Daniel had also gotten with Kate before he committed to her granddaughter (or whatever), and then she'd have that against him, but he'd fire her and kill her reputation so that she couldn't work as a doctor again if it came out. He'd have the commitment to Chelsea, there'd be that "we want each other, but it's so wrong" thing with Kate (where they would probably succumb to their temptations again), and then there's his issue with Lexie (and Abe). This would be a lower-level storyline that'd have about six or seven people involved (Abe, Lexie, Daniel, Kate, Chelsea, Theo, and bring in Celeste too) and could be a compelling mid-level story that they could use instead of having the same dialogue with other stories over and over again. You also play out the angst in Abe and Lexie's relationship (at whatever level that may be) with both being dedicated to their job, the strife at home, and Theo getting into trouble at school (fights, bad grades, bad attitude, etc). Eventually you could bring more people in with motivations against Daniel and do a whodunnit type of storyline when you kill him off (because I really wouldn't see him lasting). Abe has motivation, as do Lexie, Chelsea (when she finds out), Kate (when the whole thing's exposed much to her chagrin), maybe Bo (for Daniel using his daughter, this could also play into the inevitable corruption thing), etc. I'd probably bring Tek back into the mix and maybe have him frame Abe for the murder. Then Mike Horton comes back, gets voted to Chief Of Staff, and all is well with the world. [/random tangent] Edited by Shylock, Jul 19 2008, 03:51 PM.
