This isn't the show that I knew and loved for decades. The characters, even the ones that I knew and loved don't interest me and I find that to be very sad. I don't think the return of any characters will do it. They can write a good show with who they have but they simply don't know how. Currently we are seeing some bad rip off of GH rather than Days a show that was know for romance and adventure. When was the last time we had a love story?
