My guess is that the Salemites who look guilty, individually threatened him so that he would leave town (Nicole/Melanie/Caroline), and/or beat him up. (Nick/Max). BTW, thank you all who didn't think my idea of Claude being the killer as completely asinine. And a big huge thank you to whomever got rid of that really rude poster.
