I just don't think they were ever on the same wavelength, creatively. I have a feeling that Corday always tried to interfere (big surprise!), especially in the beginning. Then when he saw what kind of ratings JER could get, he backed off. When JER returned in 2003, I think Corday gave him free reign for about seven months, then started his usual meddling right about the time Melaswen came into play.
