Corday is the one behind MM and BB's firings. Higley and Scott wanted to do a Shawn/Belle/Philip/Chloe quad, with Philip/Belle and Shawn/Chloe being the couples to come out of it. They both saw more story potential with those couples than with Shawn/Belle and a Philip/Chloe redux. They fought with Corday on this and Corday was the one who made the executive decision to terminate the two. He forced Scott to break the news to Brandon and Martha. This is why there was a sudden shift in the story at the beginning of the year as Shawn forgave Belle and Philip and Chloe started moving towards each other in Ireland.

That being said, I don't miss either of them. Beemer was a horrible recast and had no chemistry with Martha.
Not doubting you, but how do you know for sure that Corday was the one behind it, and that Scott and Dena (who clearly weren't the best of friends lol), wanted the quad to continue.
Because I know someone close to the situation.
Then that begs the question. If Corday was responsible for it, what was his reasoning behind it?
I think we already established that. He wanted to preserve Shelle.

He felt they were being threatened. Phelle was big, Shawn/Chloe was getting big. He got rid of them and I think the plan was to recast with either Storms/Cook or Cook and someone else. Ultimately, he had no choice but to just keep them off the canvas because he couldn't get it the way he wanted.

Martha's firing got such a huge fan response, moreso then RJ or others. In recent years, Days has reversed casting decisions in response to fans yet they don't this time. Sort of weird. I also find it weird that Martha has not been hired and Beemer has. We don't even hear much about Martha being considered for roles. That just puzzles me.
You would be correct. Corday saw them as a package deal and didn't value them as individuals, so he got rid of both of them.

Jason Cook was approached but declined the offer out of respect to Brandon Beemer and because he didn't want to do "Shelle" again without Kirsten - and Kirsten will never reprise the role of Belle, at least as long as Corday is there.
I'm not saying Beemer was Al Pacino, but compared to Cook, he might as well have been
You can say that again. JC's lack of air time after all the big to-do over his being hired by GH is pretty obvious that Cook's acting isn't what they were expecting nor, unless he's cleaned up his act, are his work habits.

As for why Corday let them go, I don't think there is any big reason for it. I don't think Corday, well thinks, or has any grand plan for the show at all.
Then why was Jason Cook given his choice of two ABC shows? He didn't go to them. I believe they sought him out.
I know they sought him out but he's hardly been used and has no signs of having a storyline that he plays a major part of. I don't see GH splitting up Spinelli and Maxie anytime in the near future and the whole counterfiet drugs storyline seems to have been dropped.

If he was so very sought after, why isn't he being used?
I'm sure Brian Fronz is the one to ask.
I mean seriously. It would be one thing if Jason Cook sought them out. They wanted him. Yes, it's possible the dynamics didn't work, or that GH actually listened to their fans in regards to this, or that Jason Cook and Matt Hunter are not a good fit. I have no idea. I don't watch GH. All i know is.......there were quite a few fans around who were definitely not pleased with Beemer, so I don't even know why this has to be a "who's better" scenario, especially when, well, preferences are subjective. You have the right to prefer Beemer. I have the right to prefer Cook. And Corday had the right to can or let both of them go, as the boss. Who knows why they did it? I'm sure the truth is out there. And now, Beemer can be enjoyed on B&B.
Just out of curiosity, were you only a Beemer Shelle fan or were you also a Cook Shelle fan, or just a Cook/Storms Shelle fan? I know quite a few Shelle fans who got pissed off at Cook because he wouldn't pimp a JC/MM Shelle.
It's immaterial to me. I wanted Shawn to get dumped on a deserted island and have Belle return for Philip. Philip needs a REAL woman in his life, dammit! I'm almost ready to turn to the Phloe side.
What difference does it make who I am a fan of? Does that change the validity of my opinion?

The assumption seems to being made that because Fronz reportedly called Cook that it was Fronz who initiated the calls. It could also have been that Cook, and/or his agent put out the word that Cook wanted to go back to daytime and Fronz took it from there. We will never know the whole story.
