That is what the show has always been about. As I said, they've been better then anyone at slowly integrating new characters to replace old ones when they should leave. The show, at it's heart, has always been about medicine and how doctors and nurses grow. Carter kind of epitomized what the show was and still is in that he started low and worked his way up. I think that is why we will see some hints of another changing of the guard in the finale. Plus, it kind of sets up another spinoff, if they feel so inclined, and I hope they do providing the same people work on it behind the scenes.
