Awesome stuff, Jason. This was such a golden period for the show and deserves to be prominently documented.

It's interesting to note how similar the yearly rankings were from '71 to '75. The same 7 actors dominated with only slight changes in the order from year to year. It's evident here that Bill Bell plotted his stories years in advance, thus requiring very little turnover in the cast. In this case, he struck gold with two extremely popular arcs (Doug/Julie's romance, the Mickey/Laura/Bill triangle) and just milked that formula for all its worth.

Total Episode Rankings: August 1, 1971-July 31, 1975:
(out of a total of 994 episodes)
1. Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) 576
2. Susan Flannery (Laura Horton) 541
3. Macdonald Carey (Tom Horton) 492
*. Edward Mallory (Bill Horton) 492
5. Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) 456
6. John Clarke (Mickey Horton) 422
7. Frances Reid (Alice Horton) 381

Pretty impressive list too with 6 of the 7 being multiple Emmy winners or nominees.
