All of a sudden she went on the ultimate eighties trip -- the out-of-body experience. Transported to a big white world that resembled the interior of a spaceship or a child's idea of heaven, Viki believed she was dead and was reunited with everyone she had known in Llanview. The good souls wore white and the bad souls like Mitch Lawrence wore black. Viki's tour guide for the journey was an unassuming guardian angel-tyle named Virgil, who eventually reappeared in Llanview as the protective Buchanan gardener Gilbert (see Best Servant). He convinced Viki that her life was worth living and she pulled through the operation. This out-of-body experience was an expensive proposition for OLTL, but it drew high ratings and set a precedent in daytime that other shows, namely GUIDING LIGHT and ANOTHER WORLD, followed.
