I agree that it was ridiculous that they chose not to show the USA vs Canada men's hockey game on 'free' TV. A huge game and it gets shoved over to CNBC - just ridiculous!

It seems to me they tend to focus on individual athletes/sports rather than team sports.
The game was shown live on MSNBC and streamed live on nbcolympics.com. 8M viewers tuned to MSNBC (a record). Meanwhile NBC drew between 16M-26M during the same time frame. No one can predict an "upset" and had the game been the blowout as expected, the game would have had the 3-5M viewers.
