Killing myself slowly

Yes, I guess I agree with you, perhaps it is a bit harsh to use a "lowest common denominator" but I still think the writing is low quality, crap (its just what I think, can't help it).

I get the "stupid viewer" comment- I don't believe Mitch was necessarily calling the people who watch the show stupid, but rather, the writing, which panders to the lowest common denominator, or "stupid viewer." Much in the same way that the old Adam Sandler movies were written for the "stupid movie-goer." It doesn't or didn't mean that everyone who ends up watching is stupid. Make sense?
Thank you for explaining what I clearly could not with my original post.
This is what the context of my post was about...the shitty, low standard pandering of the writing....sorry if anyone took it any other way...and sorry I was not able to convey that better originally. I thought the quotation marks around "stupid american viewer" gave away what i was trying to get at. :smooch:
to anyone I unintentionally offended
Mitch, I just want to say that I never really felt offended (at least not me personally). I was pretty sure you meant what juniorz felt you did so no worries. Your one of my favorite posters so I would always give you the benefit of the doubt.
I guess my disagreement with your post comes from just seeing the whole "lowest common denominator" thing tossed around alot. Yes, I don't want the bulk of what is produced in film/television/etc to be appealing to that audience but I do think some of what is produced HAS to. Sometimes you just want to sit down and watch something (be it a TV show or film) without thinking much, if at all. You just want to escape and just sit and have a good time losing yourself in something for a little bit. That is what Two and a Half Men does for many people and I think that is why that and shows like it often do well. I will acknowledge the show is not well written but shows like that are needed because there needs to be a balance. People have to deal with enough between work/school/whatever they may have to deal with. They don't want to have to deal with even more when they just want to sit back, relax, and just enjoy and be entertained. That's just where I'm coming from on this but I do not disagree at all on your assessment of the quality other than I do find the show funny.
Oh, and I think Sheen HAS to be fired. It just gets worse and worse. Get rid of him, get the show through the next few seasons, and then move on.
My disdain for it is more based on the fact that it is the #1 rated comedy, I don't feel it is anywhere deserving of that title.
