Always the Panic Spreader
Known and remembered to many fans as Corky Sherwood on the former CBS sitcom, “Murphy Brown,” Faith Ford stars in the NBC movie, “Field of Vision.” The movie centers on school bullying, and what kids and adults need to do in the situation. Ford plays a guidance counselor in the film, but what fans may not have realized is that the actress was also bullied herself.
The actress opened up and revealed that she was also a victim of being bullied in school, and how she became a voice for others on what to do if someone is also being bullied:
“I was actually bullied, too, when I was in elementary school. It’s not fun, and there are all sorts of bullying, which is what I found out. You have emotional bullying, and now there is cyber bullying. It’s really about taking someone who is vulnerable, and capitalizing that they are vulnerable and harassing them.”
Ford continues as to how she was able to find a support system:
“My mother was a school teacher, and she encouraged me to have a voice and speak up and not allow it to happen, and then pick another friend. I basically tried to find friends who were like me, and stayed with “like” people. I ended up having a voice. I ended up sort of getting out there, and becoming a cheerleader. I triumphed over it, but not all kids can. So, I say, ‘Absolutely.’ Find an advocate.”
“Field of Vision” airs on NBC this Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 8 PM ET. Check local listings.
