Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
The vets were only not there as a cushion in the early parts of 09. When the ratings really surged, Bope and Kate and Stefano were being heavily featured and then they brought in Carly and Vivian.
Stefano, Kate, Vivian, and Carly weren't the vets that the show built around for nearly 3 decades. You could sort of say Srefano was but he was on and off so I don't count him.

I'm talking about the big 4 (John/Marlena/Bo/Hope). They carried the show for a LONG time and pushing them aside and even axing two of them made a statement that the show was moving on.
Except it didn't take, lol. And it doesn't matter if those were the vets they'd relied on in the past. We were talking about age demographics. The show wasn't skewing younger in 2009. There are a billion other legitimate arguments for why the show did well for a little while, but skewing younger isn't one of them. That time period was 8 years after the show focused on a bunch of high schoolers. Young is not something the show has done for a long time.
You don't have to focus on high schoolers to go younger.

I guess we will just agree to disagree on this. I still think the show skewed younger. I will agree with you, though, on the point that it wasn't tops on the list of why the show did well. There were much bigger reasons, most notably the stories, but I think it was one of the reasons.
