Would it be better to just skip season six then? I was planning on catching up before the new season stars, but if it's not worth it I won't waste my time.
Season 6 was bad. From the very first episode the quality of the writing just wasn't up to par with past seasons. So many things happened that were logically impossible. The characters were dumbed down. The plot was overwrought with foolishness. The monologues were stale and tedious. It was just bad. Spoiler: click to toggle The worst part was that the writers had Deb fall in love with Dexter. Like... legitimate, romantic, "I want to marry you and have your babies" love. Pretty gross.
The last episode ended with Deb walking in on Dexter killing the season's big bad. It was a good scene but not nearly as good as it should've been considering we waited six seasons for that moment. Anyone could've written that scene and it would've been good, but it wasn't as good as it should've been. I thought the scene from season 5 when Deb almost caught Dexter and Lumen killing Jordan Chase was a thousand times better. It was much more dramatic and tension-filled. Meh. I'll probably just pass on it then. It sounds like I wasn't missing anything of relative importance, minus Deb finding out about Dexter.
