It'd be different if Kristen somehow tricked him or contrived for this to happen, but I imagine a man like John would simply hire someone to do the winterizing for him. The whole thing is so forced... they're taking Kristen's manipulation from the 90's (if that's what they're doing) with none of the intricate setup that went along with it. I'm surprised the thermostat in the cabin didn't malfunction. And Marlena's delayed by a snowstorm, right, but arrives just in time to walk in and see John and Kristen sleeping naked together for warmth? I could actually go for that, I think. Y'all are right, John is always a bit of an idiot. I still think the past few years he's not been at his normal level of idiocy.
