EJ has been a bore since Daysaster. He is probably sorry he signed up for another year of this crap. Wouldn't surprise me. His character has been all over the place for sometime now. Either the writers don't know how to write for him, or there is a lot of behind the scenes push and pull with tptb about how they want to portray him and his character is just all over the place in the mean time. It is the same way with Sami. The lack of consistency with both of them and others, is ruining the characters and not doing anything for the actors or the show either.
