He's poorly defined, and always up to a lot while accomplishing very little. Yet the character is popular and, at this point, enduring, and that seems to be all because of Scott. I can also see wondering why he's not a movie star. He's charming (British) and handsome, and there aren't a lot of actors of his type/age who are big right now. I think it's easy to imagine him as an updated Hugh Grant, yet he's still in soaps.
