IMO, THIS is the perfect version of these two characters & their relationship -- brutally honest with one another, snarky/sniping, kinda petty, but still ultimately on good terms/friendly and most definitely on the same side of what matters. This WORKS and I'd really love to see more of this. I agree. I was a big fan of their romance back in the day, but they're friends now. They love each other. As friends. They're honest with each other. They are there for each other. Sami needs a friend and confidant, and I think Lucas fills that role perfectly. More, please.
