Nick is furious when he eavesdrops on a conversation between Rafe and Gabi and he hears Rafe say that Sami wants Will to seek full custody of his and Gabi's baby. Angry, Nick purchases a disposable cell phone and surveillance device. He sends Lucas a text message saying "I know your son shot EJ" and he plants the surveillance device on Will. Later, Lucas and Will meet up to try and figure out who knows the truth, unaware that their conversation is being recorded by an ecstatic Nick who gets it all on tape.
