It wasn't until santeen, IMO, that it looked like EJ might really have a shot with Sami. Up until then, lumi was getting rooting couple writing. And even after that, things didn't tilt in EJ's favor, so much as balance out. ETA, you can be the underdog in one story and the projected winner in another.
