Right? And it felt like the actors felt the same way. It was just... BAD. Like really, truly bad. Awkward, weird and BAD. And considering the actors are really good friends in real life (they're almost neighbors, or at least were), it tells me something about just how bad the scenes were, and how out of character John is, for them to not be able to find some way to make it less ... awkward. And it's not their fault, because there is a line for what actors can do to improve this kind of shitty writing.
