Remember the movie 'Misery" with Kathy Bates? Some people are actually like that. Rmember the the singer.....I think her name was Selena.......and Jennifer Lopez played her in the movie about her life.......the woman who killed her started out as a fan who she got close to and gave a job to. The woman then started stealing from her and when she figured it out the woman ended up killing her to stop her going to the police. You can't mess around with crazy.

Fans get mixed up all the time. Matthew Ashford told stories of when he would get accosted on the street by ladies hitting him with their pocket books and telling him that he shouldn't have raped poor, sweet Kayla. If they get mixed up with the actor standing right in front of them, I'm not surprised they get mixed up on Twitter as well.
I have heard those stories too. There is nothing to get "mixed up". If you don't know the difference between an actor and a character you are either an idiot, a whackjob, or both.
The thing is, there a lot of crazy people in this world and celebrities get dangerous stalkers all the time. And now with twitter, a celebrity might be having conversation with someone who is actually a stalker and not just a rude person. I think for a celebrity's own safety it would best not to answer someone who is being over the top rude because you never know who you're actually dealing with.
When I was in high school, I was talking to a girl in gym class that I didn't know. We struck up a conversation about Days, and I realized in talking to her that she did not understand that the characters weren't real. I remember being really shocked by this, but she was equally shocked that I didn't think Salem was a real place. It's a vivid memory to this day.
I remember thinking that it would be really creepy for the actors to encounter someone like this.
