This is an article about the Library of Congress preserving 50s-70s TV shows that were recorded on videotape. I found this part particularly interesting:

The Library of Congress is hoping eventually to convert all of its 700,000 tapes to a digital format. Most of its holdings were deposits required by law: Any movie or TV show that is copyrighted must have a copy donated to the library.

I wonder whether this includes old soap episodes. Wouldn't it be great if some of them previously believed lost are at the LOC?
