An employee being given a crappy task is no excuse for that employee to turn in a crappy performance on the job. Anybody who has ever held a job has been given work to do that they didn't like - and many of them have not been compensated nearly as well as Drake has been. |
Instead of doing the best he could with rotten material he was given, Drake went out and made things even worse with some horrific acting. He was flat out embarrassing to watch so I can only imagine how the suits at Days and NBC felt about him.
I do feel badly for fans of Drake and his character. The writing for John has been atrocious; but Drake should have tried to rise above it instead of sinking below it. I don't know if things would be different now if he had given Olivier caliber performances; but he did not help his cause by going the Pauly Shore route.
