I don't see why she cant, they are suppose to just report the facts, but I don't know anything about the rules of professional journalism. Her boss who has been in the business a lot longer than Nicole and should know the rules is the one asking Nicole to interview Eric.
My reasoning is that her story wouldn't have credibility to the public or other journalists. Her story would become a story in and of itself. She would be called out on her involvement, thus her credibility would be called into question, and the credibility of her reporting.
Oprah Winferey interviews people that she knows all the time. She gets them to tell their story if their is one to tell. That is all Nicole will be doing with Eric. She doesnt even have to mention her involvement which was only in rescuing him. That is why I am not seeing the big deal.
No offense to Oprah Winfrey, but she's not a journalist. She's a personality. But still, I think if she did a story about Steadman or her best friend Gail, and it was a story as horrifying as this Eric rape story, and perhaps she had a part in their story as pertinent as Nicole's role in Eric's story, then even Oprah would have to reveal that information prior to doing the story if she hoped of maintaining her credibility. And I doubt seriously that Oprah would allow herself to do a story like that without revealing her part in it up front. It's simply a credibility and ethical issue.
