On one of the four soaps, producers are trying to fill a key role and just can't seem to find anyone. No one has impressed them so far.....

Thoughts?

SOD: The future is now

There's a really interesting article about what people in the daytime drama arena see happening in 2015. Here's some summaries of their beliefs for the upcoming year:

Ken Corday: "I think we're going to really set the bar at a high level and impress our buyer and hopefully withing the next year, get a pickup for another two years"....

Shellly Altman (Former head writer of Y & R): Believes that we need escapist entertainment. She also believes that viewership will increase in 2015.

Michael Logan : Social issues will make a comeback.

Charles Pratt (Current head writer of Y & R): Only speaking for Y & R and saying that "myths will be broken" as well as hearts. He believes that as long as they are in the game," there's hope for a brighter tomorrow."

Jackie Zeman (Bobbie, GH): Feels that soaps would be wise to focus on core families. Basically the same stuff happens to each generation, marriage, pregnancy, divorce, cheating and it's not a bad thing. As long as people can relate to that story, people will continue to watch. She hopes that TPTB have learned this lesson of people really do want to see the vets on the show. They connect to the audience.

Karla Mosley (Maya of B & B): Believes that this line up of soaps is here for a while. She feels that people don't really have to divide loyalties of soaps because there's only 4 left. She feels that nighttime and internet soaps are good at keeping the genre fresh, new and exciting.

Jacob Young (Rick B & B): Agrees with his co-star.

Ron Carlivati: Believes that the industry has stabilized and he hopes that this will continue this year. He still believes that there's a need for them. His quote--- "onward and upward"

So, that being said, what's your thoughts? What do you hope for in 2015?

Just a quick note that says this. A few of the soaps will be trimming their cast due to network mandates. Look for this to happen in a the next few weeks......
