It was very slow, but had some sweet scenes with the little boy...but not enough GV to keep me interested for 13 weeks. I'm not even sure he had more than 5 words, and yea, him being married threw me for a loop too. Still happy to see him on something, but still pissed at Days! #NeverGettingOverIt

I enjoyed it for the most part, but I can see how it might be difficult to get through. I think they should have stuck to the original narrative in the book, but artistic license I guess. I think I must be more obsessed than most because I've seen a few people that got thrown for a loop that he was married. I remembering reading that somewhere months ago (yeah, I have a memory that is frightening). I didn't really expect him to get a lot of screentime because he isn't a major character. Any promotion has either left him out or given him a very short clip. I'm not complaining. I'm glad he has work. Having said that I really want him back in the role I enjoy most as Eric Brady.

And here is my crazy speculation - Did DAYS try to get him back for this villain story and he couldn't make it work? Because adding Xander to this story screams to me the return of Eric Brady. We know that can't happen now, but it is a perfect set up for him to play hero, offer himself in place of someone as the son of Roman Brady who Orpheus is supposed to hate and of course get early parole. I meant that is the way GH would do it for a deplorable character like Sonny Corinthos so I'd be much happier if DAYS had done that for an amazing character like Eric Brady. End speculation.

2/18/16: Josh Griffith OUT, Ryan Quan IN.
2/23/16: Greg Vaughan joins the cast of Queen Sugar.

I imagine that even if Ryan and Dena wanted Eric back for that story, it was too late.

Since we're talking about Eric, it is ridiculous they're doing an Orpheus story where Roman, John and Marlena only have two of John's children on canvas. The twins, Carrie and Belle should be huge targets. Claire's there and must be a target so that may help (if they let J&M actually know her). But Brady is barely related to them and Pauls too new to be vested to a story like that. So short sighted.

Plus if Claire does end up targeted like the mag implied about J&M and S&K's loved ones, you have Belle in Hong Kong while a psychopath has her daughter. Ok sure makes sense.

GV wasn't on screen for long; he/his character has a bad haircut and a mighty fine a$$. For the first minute I thought I had the wrong channel. There was a certain "soft porn" look to the opening.

Thank you JCP.

If someone is on contract, doesn't more people than the writer have to sign off on sending the character away. I would think that producers at least have to agree. I don't know the answer.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think technically it's the executive producer (KC) who makes final decisions re: hiring/firing or at least signs the papers. Of course, they always say the Headwriters (and likely the network) are involved in the process as well.

I've got to agree with that speculation. It's a problem to have any/most of the John/Marlena/Roman children missing, but it's a major distraction to have the prison break taking place at the prison where Eric is without Eric becoming a factor. Back when Orpheus was telling Marlena to raise his children, she kept refusing on the grounds that she was going to return to her own children, one of whom was Eric... who is now thisclose to Orpheus. And the show even managed to emphasize when Eric went to prison that he'd have a target on his back because of his family's history of putting other people in prison. Eric, like Eve, would've been back with the writer change if it had been possible.

On the Queen Sugar side of things, one of the reasons it's been critically acclaimed is the slllowwww pace. One of the reviews I read specially noted that in the three episodes they got for review there was no reveal of the backstory between Nova and GV's character (although GV did discuss it in one of the articles linked here over the past few weeks).

Speaking of Queen Sugar, there was a moment last night where a little boy was supposed to be crying and wiped a tear away from his perfectly dry eye. Obviously fine for a child that age... but it distracted me by reminding me of Jen Lilley.

IDK, I think there has to be suspension of disbelief when it comes to characters off the canvas. There's only so much story they can cover. It's much easier to for me to ignore than times like the DiMera story in 2007, when they didn't even address the Brady children who were on canvas at the time.
