NEW WRITING CREDITS AS OF TODAY:

In addition to the departures of head writer Josh Griffith and interim head writer Beth Milstein, and the promotion of Ryan Quan to head writer, there were also the following changes today in the writing staff: Breakdown writer Rick Draughon is promoted to a new position (possibly co-head writer); and Jeanne Marie Ford replaces Lisa Seidman as a breakdown writer.

The third writer, RD, was just mentioned in the September 6th discussion. Maybe he's there because of Dena's instability...
For some reason, I don't recall Dave Ryan. I guess Beth Milstein is out then and not dropping to the breakdown writer spot some thought. Is she back at Y&R?

Any ideas who might take the Christopher Dunn and Melissa Salmons spots based perhaps on who Dena has had on the team from prior stints?
I hope BM is gone for good. She and Josh were horrible for DAYS. As far as I'm concerned, Meth Beth is her new name!

Just a guess...her husband Mark could fill one of the spots.

You're probably right. I think that has been the case before. I'd think that would be a bit awkward. But these days, its not like they are in an office together all day. He likely writes his scripts at home as probably the others do.

All of the script writers live on the East Coast, so none of them are probably in California much, if at all. The newbie, Tyler Topits, is also a writers' assistant, but he's been the first Burbank-based script writer in awhile.

I can't say who, or will probably save it for a blind item (ha), but a former headwriter from a cancelled soap has joined the writing team.

Was the former headwriter with the soap when it was canceled?

Thank you JCP.

I wonder if it is R.C., I hope they don't do a mob story.

I liked his scripts. Looking forward to it if that's him who is joining the team.

If I remember correctly, there already have been some speculations about him on DR?

And other boards too.

He is a good writer to have on the writing team but don't let him anywhere near the head writer position.

Also, I would assume Mark Higley will fill a role on the team and, if so, I am glad because he is a really good SW.

This is how the online credits look like. Rick Draughon must be co-headwriter.

There is a little separation here in the on-line version between DH/RQ and RD. It also looks like his lettering may be a bit smaller too. If not co-head writer what other kind of title would he get? Any precedence for this type of slot on DAYS or any of the other soaps?

Thanks Michael. We have a couple former head writers now on staff - Lorraine Broderick and the Cullitons so whoever it is should feel at home. LOL

I guess I could have said lol I didn't have any idea it was out there already.

Thanks Jason. Always wonder how the writing staff interact. I'd hope they have at least a weekly meeting to have discussions either by conference call, skype or something. Do the breakdown writers assign who among the scriptwriters will write certain episodes or are they on a rotation basis of some sort? Maybe the script writers also have a certain guarantee of episodes per year they are contracted to write. While I'm brushing up, what precisely do the breakdown writers do? Are they primarily responsible for the pacing of the stories, who will appear in episodes/watching actor guarantees and things like that?

I'm in a curious mood today. This one may be for Lysie but perhaps someone else knows. When I'm logged in, I see the stats at the bottom of a topic on the number of guests and who is in the discussion like members of the board. But I never see Lysie or Jason47 or Michael's name appear even though they are actively posting. Is that because they have an elevated status above just being a member? No big deal just wondered.

And one other small question, today e.g. I posted four times in this thread but the number of posts that are tracked has the same number for all four posts. It didn't increase as each post was submitted. Is that normal? I don't care really but I passed my one year anniversary on the board yesterday and took a look.

Any member can change their online status to anonymous. Then only the staff can see them online. I do this because people used to get mad if it appeared I was online but wasn't addressing whatever their issue was right that very second. Since I'm in and out all day and not always in for very long, I prefer to remain mysterious. I'm pretty sure other people have used it in the past because they think the staff can't see them. We can.

Not sure I understand your question right (sorry if not), but when you log in, there's an option "Show my name on the users online list: "yes" or "no".
I'm checking it right now, I've chosen "no" and my name isn't on. It means, anyone can choose it.
Btw, I remember seeing names of mods and members you've mentioned appear there like everyone else's  .

Thanks so much Lysie. That makes total sense. I didn't realize there was an anonymous option.

And sorry people hassle you at times. You do so much for us. Much appreciated.
