I'm in a curious mood today. This one may be for Lysie but perhaps someone else knows. When I'm logged in, I see the stats at the bottom of a topic on the number of guests and who is in the discussion like members of the board. But I never see Lysie or Jason47 or Michael's name appear even though they are actively posting. Is that because they have an elevated status above just being a member? No big deal just wondered.
Not sure I understand your question right (sorry if not), but when you log in, there's an option "Show my name on the users online list: "yes" or "no". I'm checking it right now, I've chosen "no" and my name isn't on. It means, anyone can choose it. Btw, I remember seeing names of mods and members you've mentioned appear there like everyone else's  . Thanks Pandage. Lysie got me on board with the anonymous option which explains it. Appreciate you helping.

Can't remember if that's still true since I can always see myself anyway lol.

It's nice to know when I'm "secretly" lurking that the staff can see me, LOL!

Posted ImageThis is how the online credits look like. Rick Draughon must be co-headwriter. Thanks for the additional look at the NBC.com credits, Hugo! Didn't even think to look there.
I asked yesterday exactly what Rick's title now is, and it is Associate Head Writer (which I guess is sometimes called Co-Head Writer?) I thought Breakdown Writers were also considered Associate Head Writers.
But, in any event, per the show, he is Associate Head Writer (I'll keep him listed on the Staff Database as Co-Head).

But these days, its not like they are in an office together all day. He likely writes his scripts at home as probably the others do.
All of the script writers live on the East Coast, so none of them are probably in California much, if at all. The newbie, Tyler Topits, is also a writers' assistant, but he's been the first Burbank-based script writer in awhile.
Thanks Jason. Always wonder how the writing staff interact. I'd hope they have at least a weekly meeting to have discussions either by conference call, skype or something. Do the breakdown writers assign who among the scriptwriters will write certain episodes or are they on a rotation basis of some sort? Maybe the script writers also have a certain guarantee of episodes per year they are contracted to write. While I'm brushing up, what precisely do the breakdown writers do? Are they primarily responsible for the pacing of the stories, who will appear in episodes/watching actor guarantees and things like that? The breakdown and script writers are supposed to be guaranteed one script per week (50-52 per year). However, as has been mentioned in Variety/Deadline Hollywood, the show's can get writers to ask for waivers so they can have an additional sixth writer sometimes on staff. The breakdown writers write the main action of the day, who will be on, where they will be, what will happen in the scenes. The dialogue writers then write the actual words the characters will say.

And one other small question, today e.g. I posted four times in this thread but the number of posts that are tracked has the same number for all four posts. It didn't increase as each post was submitted. Is that normal? I don't care really but I passed my one year anniversary on the board yesterday and took a look.
Any member can change their online status to anonymous. Then only the staff can see them online. I do this because people used to get mad if it appeared I was online but wasn't addressing whatever their issue was right that very second. Since I'm in and out all day and not always in for very long, I prefer to remain mysterious. I'm pretty sure other people have used it in the past because they think the staff can't see them. We can. I don't ever remembering hitting an anonymous button. If I did at some point in the past, I didn't realize it was happening. And, I do remember people in recent years saying they saw me at times in a certain thread, and were awaiting a post from me, so to my knowledge, people can see me (or at least I thought they could).

I prefer the "Associate Head Writer" title over Co-Head Writer. The Co-Head usually leads to confusion. I always thought (and I know many others still do) it was the title used when there was more than one head writer on, until you explained what it really was to me last year.

They sometimes use the title "Headwriters" even when there are two of them, then the next position is Co-Headwriter (I think on Y&R, Tracey Thomson is a Co-HW) but sometimes they use the title "Co-Headwriter" as their first HW position (I think Dena and Josh were and Dena and Ryan are Co-HWs), then the next position is Associate HW, because it can't be a Co-HW. But who knows  .

I'm still wondering what the difference is between the "HW" and "Co-HW" positions when they're first positions in the writing team.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep

JOHN NEWMAN MAY BE BACK AS SCRIPT WRITER...ADDITIONAL CHANGES IN CREDITS BELOW:
Didn't have time to watch yesterday's episode until now, so just saw all of these changes in the 9/7 credits:
John Newman (the son of long-time "Days" writer Fran Myers) listed as Script Writer (but not listed in today's 9/8 credits). Edwin Klein replaces Ryan Quan in doing double duty as a writers' assistant. Senior wardrobe staff member Adam Talbott gone; Jennifer Seery in. Hairstylist Dana Vargas gone; Daniela Martinez and Curran Crockett added as new hairstylists. Also, from today's 9/8 credits: Alma Delfina (who popped up in credits again on 9/6) is no longer listed.

Jason is JLB recurring you think or did she just film once when new Abby arrives? I really think the show should keep her.
