They've run out of ways to explain how people are still alive after being murdered. Orpheus pretty much just said he's alive because he wanted to be.
Yea, way to think all this out with credible explanations writers. :blulaugh:

Was that Marlena that made that noise when Orpheus grabbed Paul?
It was Maggie not Marlena.

Anyway, this works fine. Honey, you look horrific.

I still have my quibbles - but for the sake of my sanity - I'm trying not to over-analyze and keep track of all the missteps. I will say that the last two weeks has been SO much better than what we have been seeing that I'm actually enjoying the show for the first time in a LONG time.

I love GdH's voice - it is scrumptious. I love that Orpheus has an unemotional no fucks to give psycho vibe. I continue to love PT's ability to play the vulnerable emotions of wanting to belong with the downright crazy. So far this villain thing is working for me. I would really love it if they all manage to escape alive when it ends so they can come back for more torture later.

While Nicole is remembering Xander strangling her I need her to remember that it was Eric that rescued her and to relive the Furnace of Love memories.

hmmm what if orpheus has already kidnapped marlena and replaced her with hattie .....maybe she will be with claire. Eh, can't expect the show to write stuff we'd actually want to see.
I....would not want to see that lmao.
so maybe they will write it that way.... lol

"Sorry I don't see the resemblance" :mutley: Oh Orpheus I love you!! haha xD
:blulaugh: :blulaugh: :blulaugh:

I loved that, because it's so true. Paul has no resemblance to John at all. Of course, I will never buy he's John's son.
Me too. I like Paul but don't like him to be John's son. Don't have a history and I'm not feeling father and son relationship between them.

I don't even understand why they felt the need to do that. It's unnecessary. All it makes me think of is in 2000 when John was only focused on his "son" and Marlena was like "well there's just so many of them" lmao. Like, we have to add another kid into the mix? Does he use protection?

I continue to love PT's ability to play the vulnerable emotions of wanting to belong with the downright crazy.
The moment that I noticed was when Theresa finally gave in, admitted what she'd done, and actually said she was sorry. It was so unexpected that for a second, Xander's eyes twitched with uncertainty, as if the moment was making him rethink his urge for vengeance.

Of course, he got over it quickly but it was one of those little acting choices that really good actors know how to make work, and PT did a great job with it. (Stephen Nichols and Greg Vaughan are two others who are masters of the eye acting).

Let's remember that John found out about Paul after Paul was an adult. They both love baseball.
Inasmuch as Paul's mom was Asian, it is not odd that they don't "resemble" each other. Heck, Chad does not resemble Stefano, or any of his brothers, Abby & JJ look nothing alike nor resemble their parents, same goes for Lucas, Philip, Kate.......Bo, Kim, Roman, Kayla and Caroline/Shawn. These are unrelated actors.......why should they look like anyone but themselves?

The writing for Paul, for John & Marlena, and others as well, has been abysmal under Griffith, & have to say the improvement last week and this is VAST. My biggest complaint is Brady's over done devotion to Victor. Yes, I know he lived with victor for some time, because John & Marlena were out of the country. But he was raised from infant to his adulthood by John & Marlena.
I am glad Ryan Quan is such a long time viewer of the show, and seems to want to get family/friendship back in focus. The new writers are off to a good start, in my opinion.

Okay this episode was hilarious and ridiculous but so hilarious I don't care much about how ridiculous.

If I was Orpheus, I would keep Paul over Brady too. For one, well the man volunteered ever so calmly meanwhile Brady is still posturing with a gun to his head making threats. For two, that's three brawny men (and my dear Sonny) so I would get rid of one of them for my own comfort. I wouldn't have set him free though, I would have shot him.

It was so strange that so many people were let free like they were just going to say thanks and get drinks. Except they kind of did. I think they've been to so many failed Brady weddings, everyone was just like meh, strange man holding gun, another wedding disaster.

The Paulson lover in me's favorite moment was John and Brady having to pretty much order Sonny to leave

I am loving this villain outbreak because they are all talented actors with hilarious writing. The best part is I am afraid of all three of them though in different ways. Xander is a live wire, Orpheus is the long haul kind of player, and then there's the one I fear most, the wildcard, Clyde, who is oddly nowhere to be found. Guess we know why Kate had to buy the whole B&B and empty it out so she's all alone.

The Victor and Phillip moment was actually sweet. I guess they kept the ridiculous anger from yesterday specifically to have this moment today. I can dig it.

Maybe it's because I'm not familiar with a man's suit, but if I was chasing after someone like Brady and Paul I would have ditched the suit jacket ages ago. Actually as soon as Orpheus showed up I would have. It would have been boss if Paul and Brady ditched there's like John did and went into protector /prepared to fight mode.

I like that Brady and Paul got to play hero actually but I wonder why they didn't have all of the drama play out at the mansion. Theresa could have been upstairs getting ready/held hostage by Xander, increasing Brady's urgency to save her and everyone's else tension/fear about needing to escape, since Orpheus wasn't planning on killing them but Xander showed up just to kill. That way instead of Orpheus just setting everyone free, Paul could have gone for the gun and Brady in the chaos could have fled upstairs to save Theresa (let's be honest, he wasn't going to check on John first).

Nice of Brady to not bothering to call John or Marlena himself to find out how they were.
I thought this was weird too. I don't remember who Brady said he spoke to about John but all I could think was "why didn't you just call your dad yourself...."

LOL, thank you for reminding me of that moment. DHer's dry delivery of "there are so many" was great.

John was a lot to take in his Merc the Jerk phase. Though almost everything about Days was a lot to take right around then...

I basically agree with this. I don't care for the John/Paul thing overall. It was too much of a coincidence that Sonny's ex happened to come to Salem for treatment AND slept with Will AND turned out to be the long-lost son of a Salemite. It's a bit icky to me that Marlena's grandson and John's son have had sex (I know, soap family trees, but I don't have to like it and I don't). And most of all I tuned out of the rewrites of John's past round about the time they came up with the John/Tony/brothers thing and really backed off with the Santeen story.

That said... When Orpheus said Paul didn't look like John, my reaction was "but look at his eyes!" Strictly on appearance, Paul as John's son with a Japanese woman works for me more than many of the other supposed relatives on the show.

And it is nice that after watching John raise five kids who all pointedly gave up playing sports once they hit their teen years, he finally got the one who loves baseball like he does. I'd rather Paul wasn't John's son, but I'll appreciate that little touch.

John and Paul actually have similarly shaped features to pass as related to me too, i.e. eyes and nose shape.

This made me laugh out loud. But I'm not surprised. It clearly looks like a dress that came out of the maternity section.
