Week of 9/19/16-9/23/16 # 13049-13056 (airing 3/21/17-3/30/17)
Wow, now taping 6 months in advance. I guess those 5 weeks off didn't help the schedule at all. :shame:
As esp said, they'd be 7 months ahead if they didn't have the 5 weeks off.

Josh was probably a good writer, but he was in wrong kin.d of writing talent.

Years ago, didn't ASWT hire a well known author and he did fine for awhile but something started going wrong with his stuff and he left and they hired back some experienced soap writers? Not all writers fit in every situation.
Hogan Sheffer? Wasn't ATWT his first soap writing job?

Freddie Smith said the other day that they have another big break coming soon.
I heard that they will be off for the rest of the year after Day of Days.

I never thought of Hogan.

I was thinking of that Conroy guy who I think wrote stuff for tv and movies, maybe even a book.

I can't find it listed now in his bio, but I am pretty sure it was Pat Conroy, well known author that wrote for the show for awhile.

thesamanthastewart After a bit of a hiatus, super grateful to return to my favorite set on #DaysOfOurLives One of the best cast and crew out there! And when you only get one take to nail it, also one of the best acting classes :-) 1d

thesamanthastewart Gotta brag on this girl for a minute.... had the pleasure of playing her best friend in a feature years ago. And now today, getting to see her in action as a principle on #DaysOfOurLives and even act in a scene with her.... couldn't have happened to a sweeter, more talented lady! My favorite thing is seeing how gracious, humble and kind she is to every member of the crew. A true lesson in professionalism and not an ounce of ego. @_marcimiller_ you are a rockstar, and it made my day getting to catch up with you! Can't wait for the next one!! 😘😘😘 1d

_marcimiller_ GURL! I totally loved getting to see you yesterday! Truly. Proud of you, sista and grateful that our paths have and will continue to cross. And for the record, you walked out yesterday and the makeup people were like, "that girl is just so nice, etc.." So, thank YOU for your professionalism and kindness. Takes one to know one. I appreciate you and will see you so soon because your hair is not crazy red. ;) xx @thesamanthastewart

I heard thanksgiving but after day of days adds up better. It's barely going to affect anything though.

It's possible that the actor who said it was talking about his/her own schedule, but you're right. It's not long enough either way to help.

There are 7 weeks left until Day of Days, let's assume 2 of those weeks are dark, that's 5 more weeks filming 8 episodes = 40 episodes or 8 weeks of shows.
It will be the end of May sweeps in Salem when they go on hiatus before DoD. Still pretty much 5 months ahead when they return in January.

JG is a pretty experienced soap writer  .

Well, they are only renewed through Sept 2017. It makes sense to stop the production at least until NBC makes a decision.

I heard thanksgiving and then a certain number of weeks that didn't add up correctly. But I could see either being correct. I'm glad they're doing it, but I wish it would make a bigger dent than it will. Unless they come back cancelled, they'll be back to six months ahead in no time.

^ My face watching DAYS

^I would say there is a big chance they could be coming back cancelled this time.

A 2 month break is very much needed, but it is hard to not think that it could give NBC the perfect opportunity to sort of wrap stuff up.

Nah. If anything, it is saving more money so they like it, especially if the ratings start trending upward.

Until word gets out that NBC has a viable replacement lined up for Days, I wouldn't worry. NBC still seems interested in keeping it around. Issue with that is with their interest comes their influence and ever since NBC started giving a damn the show has had even more issues creatively.

I am guessing 5 months of taping goes to 4 months?

If the break is from Day of Days to after the holidays, it should be more like 6.5 to 4.5 months

As long as DAYS is making NBC profit, it's not going anywhere without a viable replacement. All attempts on other networks have failed to replace soaps.

The news that Ted Harbert left NBC recently also helps. He was the one in the leaked emails that was said to not really want Days around.
