Orpheus thinks Steve is dead, that could work for John and Steve later for a surprise element.
I thought Orpheus said he kept up on the news in Salem while he was in jail? Apparently he missed all the dead people that came back to life.
He thinks he's dead because he shot him in the chest last week.

I think the stuff with Orpheus/Marlena/Claire was good. I think the stuff with Kate/Clyde was good. They should not have been playing out simultaneously. It took away from both things and killed the momentum of the whole thing.

Also John totally saved Kate first.
I saw that John saved Kate first.
I wonder what that was about , maybe stage direction?
He saved Kate because Clyde had his gun pulled on her ...Orpheus didn't have his out yet.
Thanks, I saw the gun Clyde pointed at Kate but I didn't realize Orpheus didn't have his gun out yet.

I hate that they're wasting Xander. Can't wait until he gets the chance to go after his own people.

Maybe I'm just confused as usual when watching this show, but why is Kate meeting Chloe's doctor at the hospital in Salem (the same hospital Marlena works at and the same hospital where that alley was that they all ended up almost getting killed in), when that doctor was supposedly in another town where Chloe, Phil and Deimos went to get that paternity test?

I think Kate went to the out of town doctor's office not to University Hospital.Based on the time it took Deimos to get there on Friday,it's probably right outside Salem.

He thinks Steve is dead because he shot him point blank in the chest, twice. He doesn't know Steve had a bullet proof vest on.
I know that. My point was that he should know nobody ever dies in Salem. Hell, he didn't die himself on that island when John shot him.

JATE!

I kid, I kid. I'm a total John and Marlena fanboy. Having said that, though, I always enjoy a John/Kate interaction. One of my favorite scenes was when Kate showed up at the hospital after John's hit and run and John opened his eyes. Marlena's line, "It took Kate to wake you up." It was so simple, but so so good. I'd like more of that please.

I wonder why the John saving everyone scene or the paternity result scene was not the Friday cliffhanger?

I guess I don't find the power a big issue because quite a few residences/business invest in generators. Also the utility companies tend to restore power areas on a rolling basis not all at once.

I think Joey would be useful as leverage if the villains are cornered.I don't see Roman,Abe,or anyone else in authority being willing to risk Joey's life.
I know one is paid decently and acting is a person's craft but honestly I don't think I could stay in the moment after someone spit in my face.
I have to go back and watch the show but I wonder if it appeared to anyone else that Joey just had rope wrapped around his ankles, his ankles were not actually tied to the chair or anything else.

You know Nicole's whole speech to Chloe about protecting her baby and standing in her corner would have been more powerful if a. Nicole wasn't obsessed with the person Chloe is protecting her baby from and b. the writers hadn't decided that Chloe's the only one that actually seems to fear the man with the weakest reason why of everyone Deimos wronged. And those lines he had today about not being a hero and no selfless gestures, I just... it's not even that he's being written as a grey character, he is just a poorly shaded pencil sketch. The worst part is, Chloe's reasoning for keeping him in the dark makes no sense... and yet I am still rooting for Chloe and Phillip to raise this baby.

Go Kate for actually pulling that gun!

It just doesn't seem fair that Joey is the only one captured while Claire gets to roam around Salem free without tape on her mouth. One good pop upside Claire's head and I swear she'd be straightened out, Marlena, I swear.

It makes it hard to fear the villains when everyone is walking around Salem carefree like Joey wasn't kidnapped. Even Steve and Kayla were just like "welp he won't kill him." Marlena's sending away bodyguards. Claire is worried about internet service.

I feel like (with the exception of Claire) that they do come across as nervous and on guard...but then they do stupid stuff like send away body guards, leave people alone, and walk places alone.

Well today had good and bad. I liked the black family scenes at home. I feel like I should complain about wanting more since it took ten months to get John Marlena and Claire to speak to each other and since we've suffered through all the recent Kiriakas family scenes. Love John's goodbye's to Claire and Marlena. That coming back from the door reminded me of how he used to leave the penthouse.

I agree the hold up should have been two separate interactions. There was too much going on at once and then the villains were gone.

I hate the baby story. Really everything about it

Too much talking at each other without anything of interest being exchanged. Nicole and Chloe were dull. Deimos and Philip the same. Those scenes dragged on. Maybe having other characters to switch to might have helped break up those monotonous scenes.

The back alley was entertaining. I liked the setup. I was disappointed that again the scene was cut awkwardly after the shot rang out. Didn't John have Clyde in his grasp? Also, Claire didn't come across scared enough considering Orpheus said he was going to kill her. But overall I enjoyed it.

They've gone overboard with Claire focused on her social media. It's become ridiculous that she wouldn't be thinking of Joey or her grandparents safety. We get that she's self centered when it comes to starting her career, but the way they are writing her is weak on their part.

Kayla and Steve are not panicked enough over Joey. It's weird. Why would Kayla sit home when the 3 guys had no problem entering her house already? None of their scenes worked for me today.

For a doofy kid, Joey had some guts spitting at Orpheus. Surprised me.

The baby storyline has me bored and is pulling the episode down. Its a good thing the villains came to town.

I was so excited about today's show but hate to say that i felt completely let down. The one thing that makes this stuff soapy and exciting is missing! There was no ' omg I was so scared for you' moments... No built up tension or emotion....no scene follow through... And no emotional reunion. Gosh I hate typing this post so much bc I wanted so much more. Epic fail in my opinion. The one thing that was good today was Marlena jumping In front of Claire and her reaction to Orpheus thinking he was gonna hurt her. They should have had Orpheus grab Marlena / Claire and escort them out and go on the run while John attacked Clyde. That would have brought in more tension imo! Also, what the heck is with the self obsessed Claire? So stupid. I also love Paul but why the heck bring him in for 2 lines and one scene?

I liked the Black family scenes too especially the way John handled Claire. His kiss goodbye to Marlena was a sweet tender touch. His turning over Claire's tablet was perfect, but would it have killed them to have her at least say, 'Goodbye grandpa, Be safe'?!
