INTERVIEW: Alison Sweeney dishes DAYS and her irresistible new film This preview of The Irresistible Blueberry Farm looks really good, I already have it taped for tomorrow, Sunday.. Oct 2,2016 Just so you all know, there are two different Hallmark channels. I just found this out. I had to call my provider and tell them that my Hallmark channel did not have this movie I was looking for. so, the lady helping me said that there was another' Hallmark Movies and Mysteries' channel. I did not know that. I asked which channel number it was on, she told me,and there it was... by Kambra Clifford Posted Thursday, September 29, 2016 12:22:55 PM Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady) opens up about Days of our Lives, devilish treats, and her new film, The Irresistible Blueberry Farm. Former Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady) is in hot demand, having walked away from Salem only to find herself involved with a slew of romantic Hallmark films that keep her just as busy -- if not more so -- than daytime ever did. Her latest movie conquest is the beloved network's The Irresistible Blueberry Farm, which stars the actress as a high-powered Manhattan attorney named Ellen Branford who goes after fulfilling her grandmother's (Shirley Jones) dying wish -- to find the hometown boy she once loved and give him her last letter. States the official teaser for the film, which Sweeney also executive produced: "When Ellen leaves her Kennedy-esque fiancé, Hayden Croft (Kavan Smith), to go to Beacon, Maine, she expects to have a quick twenty-four-hour stay. But a near-drowning experience leads her to become a local celebrity and introduces her to a man named Roy (Marc Blucas), a carpenter who saves her life. As Ellen learns more about the past her grandmother has kept hidden and works to bring closure to her quest, she may find that a twenty-four-hour visit to Beacon will never be enough." Sweeney tells soapcentral.com that creating and filming The Irresistible Blueberry Farm was a "labor of love" she's incredibly proud to see make its Hallmark Movies & Mysteries premiere on Sunday, October 2, at 9PM ET/PT. But that's not all she told us! Keep reading for more details about the romantic movie; her future in daytime; what she thinks about Austin Peck (Austin Reed), Christie Clark (Carrie Reed), and Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) returning to Salem; and more. soapcentral.com: Congratulations on the upcoming premiere of The Irresistible Blueberry Farm! What was it about this project that made you eager to sign on? Alison Sweeney: When I read the book from which the movie was adapted, I knew the characters had to come to life, and I began the process of making that happen. From acquiring the TV rights to hiring a great writer, to the casting, shooting, and editing, this has been a great labor of love for the past 18 months, and I'm incredibly proud of it. soapcentral.com: The trailer hints that the movie has both romance and mystery. Why do you think that formula works so well? Sweeney: I think viewers, particularly Hallmark viewers, love family-friendly programming that includes intrigue and love, which is exactly what The Irresistible Blueberry Farm offers. soapcentral.com: What can you tease about Ellen Branford and the adventure she finds herself on in the film? Sweeney: Ellen is a woman living the life she thinks she should be living until she discovers the true meaning of happiness in a small town when pursuing her grandmother's final wish. soapcentral.com: What can you say about your costar, Marc Blucas (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)? Will audience members who don't know him fall in love? Sweeney: You will love Marc! He's such an incredibly fun person, and it doesn't hurt that he's handsome and charming. He's a great actor -- perfectly cast for the role. soapcentral.com: You also work with Shirley Jones, who starred as Colleen Brady on DAYS in 2008. How was it to "reunite" with her and work with her once more? Sweeney: I absolutely love Shirley Jones. I didn't get to work with her when she was on DAYS, so I was thrilled when she agreed to play the role of my grandmother. There are not enough words to talk about how much I adore her. soapcentral.com: You've starred in several romantic Hallmark movies in the past couple of years. They have different stories, of course, but they all seem to share a pretty similar feeling and theme. How do you keep each one feeling fresh for both you and the loyal audience that tunes in to see everything you do? Sweeney: After playing Sami Brady for 21 years, I like playing these different characters. It's really challenging for me as an actor to discover different roles and make them come to life. These movies are also particularly exciting for me because of my role on both sides of the camera and the different mysteries of focus in each one. soapcentral.com: You'll also be appearing on Food Network's Kids Halloween Baking Championship on Wednesday, October 5, which sounds awesome! How did that job come about, and what did you think about the experience? Sweeney: I've loved being a guest judge on Chopped Jr. and I love cooking meals at home with my family, so when the opportunity came to host a series of specials for the network, I was ecstatic -- and my kids finally thought I was doing something cool! soapcentral.com: You're such a champion of healthy eating, so I imagine it must have been nice to sort of "cheat" and judge all those goodies, yeah? Sweeney: I definitely tried to only have a bite or two of each dish, but I have to admit that it was a test of my willpower because some of them were so good! Instead of eating more, I brought some home for my kids to do their own taste test as a special treat. They loved playing judge. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Alison Sweeney's Healthy Blueberry Ice Cream Sweeney recently appeared on Hallmark's Home & Family and shared one of her favorite "cheat" recipes that feels like an indulgence but is actually super healthy. Ingredients 2 frozen bananas, chopped. (Make sure to chop them before freezing, freeze for at least 2 hours) 1 cup of frozen blueberries 2 vanilla beans, split lengthwise (Be sure to scrape down the sides of the blender to make sure all the ingredients fully blend in for ultimate creaminess) Directions Combine in a powerful blender or food processor. Enjoy immediately for best result. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jk-DvH2uME soapcentral.com: News broke this week that Greg Vaughan is returning to DAYS. Austin Peck and Christie Clark will also be back soon. Has the show approached you about a possible return, as well? Sweeney: [Coyly] I always love when actors return to DAYS because I know how much fans will enjoy it. READ MORE: Greg Vaughan returns to DAYS soapcentral.com: Okay, no hint there at all! What about directing? Is daytime directing something you've been working toward or something that could be in your future? Sweeney: I've loved directing multiple episodes of General Hospital and DAYS and hope to do more when my schedule next permits. soapcentral.com: How does DAYS still define you both personally and as an actress, if at all? Sweeney: I'm so lucky that my DAYS fans continue to support my projects and are with me in every step of my life and my career. It means a lot to have touched so many people with my role of 20-plus years, and I always strive to stay in touch with my fans and to do projects that they will enjoy. For more from Sweeney, be sure to tune in to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Sunday, October 2, for the premiere of The Irresistible Blueberry Farm at 9PM ET/PT and to Kids Halloween Baking Championship, which airs Wednesday, October 5, at 8PM ET on Food Network. But they've been on great terms for many years now!! ever since Reilly left as head writer John and Sami's relationship finally went back to normal. I seem to remember once short and sweet moment when she came for Will's funeral. The problem is BRADY VICTOR BLACK!!! Really hoping all the kids are back at the same time, it would be fantastic!! |

I don't think she's back. And MarDar wrote John and Sami similarly to JER. TomSell didn't write them at all. I'd bet Quan would write them similarly to JER and MarDar. |

OK, true points, all - but I still think she's back for the wedding (speculation). I just want ALL of J&M's kids there for the occasion & IMO, Sami should be there. I kind of need someone - everyone - to give her the stink-eye when they ask "If there's anyone here who objects...speak now or forever hold your peace." |

I wanted more but I definitely liked the vibe last fall as well, especially the scene where John was patting Sami's knee at the townhouse the first night she was back. I definitely don't want another JER disciple messing things up. so I'm ok for now if last Fall is the last John/Sami I get for awhile. |

I really liked the moment at the funeral when Marlena got up and John and Sami held hands across the chair and cried a little. It was so familial. |

I think that response seals the deal on her short-term return. I'm excited for all of J&M's kids to be at the wedding, if that is indeed the case. We so rarely get to see such reunions for happy occasions. That being said, I hope that Quan's love for 90s Days will get us a couple Lumi scenes this time! |

As much as I love them I don't need Jarlena to get married again. The July 1999 wedding was eternalized in time and Days of Our Lives history, the 1986 wedding was magnificent but 1999 was just so beautiful and LONG AWAITED!! Plus they included the kids. I don't care about her already being married to Alex North, or that John was apparently already married to Hope/Gina at the time... It did not make any sense so I refuse to believe any of that crap. I don't care how many other times they divorced. It did not happen in my mind!! They are still married and the 1999 wedding still stands, the 2006 and 2009 weddings were just vow renewals in my mind just like the Vegas one in 2002. But as long as all the kids are all there. Which I hope happens, I am happy with another J&M wedding. Edited by PetrovaSalvatore, Oct 1 2016, 11:11 PM.

So happy for Ali she was the best female on Days they still not replaced her i be happy see her come back but if they put her with Lucas or Rafe i know its only because EJ is dead. She only be settling for them not because she wants to be with them remember what she told Eric last time we saw Sami at the 50th she loved EJ more than anything else in the world. I miss her and James so much thought i miss a fictional couple the way i miss Ejami hot sexy couple i cried when EJ died in Sami's arms i am still mourning now. |

She not coming back to this show Days really upset Alison they had her leave Days in 2014 in a horrible way they should let her and James go together and Ejami be happy in the end. But no they had EJ die on her she wanted HEA then they killed off Will as well she said last year it was very hard to even come back for the 50th. Corday is so spiteful he did everything to push Ali away from Days for ever she gave this show so much she deserved so much better. I be shocked if i saw Ali come back even for a short while she totally moved on she is a huge star now movie star and i just read James gone to India acting is the furthest thing on his mind both enjoying life outside Days who can blame them both moved on to bigger and better things. |

I don't think most of this is true. And actually she said she wanted a Breaking Bad type ending, not a HEA. Regardless, I don't think any of it had anything to do with Corday. He does not write the show. That being said, I don't think she's coming back at this point either. She probably will at some point, though. She's not a movie star. She's on Hallmark. Hallmark has a smaller audience than Days, and several other actors on Days do Hallmark movies too. She's getting to do more BTS stuff though, and that seems to be something she enjoys. Many actors have had terrible exits. It wasn't some big diss at her specifically. They're just not good at exits anymore. |

AS is a made for basic cable movie star and JS is probably still "finding himself" in his travels to exotic locations, smoking the best "weed" DAYS money can buy! As for AS's anger towards DAYS, she should thank them every day! She wasn't angry about Will's death. She went on and on in an interview about not liking Will's death, but agreed to a return if she could have that shitty plot twist about looking for EJ who may be alive. If she was so upset about Will, she could've ensured a story for him like she chose for EJ. She could've at least asked for a "normal" mourning for Sami for her son, but that would've taken away from EJami, right? JS should pass the pipe to her once in a while! Ali didn't want EJ to die on Sami she said she was a romantic and believed in happy endings and she did tell a Ejami fan that she understood why the Ejami fans were angry about the ending but it wasn't her choice. Also look how they killed off her son Will now if Days thought anything of Ali she would never of done that this broke her heart this why i have no respect for Corday and i bet this was Dena's doing as well this why i don't think your ever see Ali come back with her still as one of the head writers. I could be wrong and she will come back one day this is just my opinion i just so upset how they treated my girl Ali its no wonder she told them she only come for the 50th on her terms so happy she insisted they wrote that Ejami part as part of her story line. |

I mean, ultimately her opinion of the story doesn't really matter. She may still be pissed off. IDK. I still think she'll be back one day regardless. But the show isn't written for her. Her opinion of the story isn't important. She chose to leave. They don't have run their stories by her lol. |
