I don't think I have ever cared less about a cast announcement.

Nothing against their casting choice but I'm still sad they didn't approach Tina Andrews to reprise the role.

Interesting fact, Vanessa Williams former Miss America was in the movie 'Soul Food' and the other Vanessa Williams was on the TV series 'Soul Food' based on the movie.
And they both played the same character, lol.
In the original movie, former Miss America Vanessa L. Williams played Teri. The Vanessa Williams who is the new Valerie Grant played Maxine on the Showtime TV series.

You're right. It was Nicole Ari Parker who played the same role as Vanessa L Williams.

I adored her on MP. Was really bummed when she was let go to "reboot" the show for season 2. Buy whhhhyyyyyy bring her for Abe?? Not that I don't like Abe, but he's like 20 years her senior and in his 70s. And yes, I know age is just a number :blah: but I already feel the age difference will be very obvious. She looks like she hasn't aged a bit either. But I'll do my best to give it a go because the actress really is good.

I love how missmeka1987 enjoys my humor, but I also appreciate others for not encouraging me or not even liking the humor. To me this is just as fun as open mic night. It's actually better than those nights when beer bottles are thrown at me, LOL!

I know James Reynolds is 70, but I see Abe as late-60s. And I think Reynolds can pull it off too. I don't think it'll be that bad. I've seen worse.

To me, it will look no different than Abe and Lexie. RJ looked so much younger than she was so I have no issue with this.

I agree. Reynolds is 70, but I see Abe as late-60s. And while Vanessa Williams looks damn good for 53, I think she can also pass for 53 too. Their pairing will be like Abe and Lexie. Renee Jones always looked younger than she was.

The Salem timeline is way too wonky to even consider the fact that there's no way Vanessa Williams could play the same character that was shown as an adult in the mid-70s. In fact, if David Banning were brought back, I wouldn't want to see him any older than late 50s, himself. So I'm perfectly fine with Vanessa Williams' casting.

It's true that Renee Jones looked younger than she was, that's one of the reasons I didn't want Abe and Lexie together. She was too hot to be wasted on old man Abe.

While we're at it, Julie needs her brother in town, too. Stephen Schnetzer seems to be available.

Found a clip of Valerie Grant's last few weeks in Salem. She and Marlena are chatting about their respective love interests and discussing Eugene Bradford.
