I think some of you didn't pay enough attention because most of the stuff you say is missing was in the episode. It's just that the whole thing was rushed. We saw Clyde text Orpheus, we saw Sonny in the background when they said Joey has been found, etc.
I didn't notice background people today which is unusual for me. Was Sonny there the whole time? Did we see Theo leave Ciara?
Sonny was going to see if Caroline could make some food for him and Paul. He must have had a long conversation with her because he finally came back after they found out Joey was safe. He never did bring food to the table. All of a sudden Paul and Sonny were at the park bench talking about how Paul helped "save Joey" and the big hug (I thought Sonny was going to plant a big thank you kiss on Paul but I guess we will have to wait for that (Paul gets shot next week according to a spoiler pic) . CIARA and Theo left the Pub together but she was not shown at the pier that I noticed. She must have gotten lost.
The good news Sonny finally puts his mouth on Paul's mouth
The bad news, its to administer CPR...

I loved how Sonny reached out and grabbed Paul's arm, then when he pulled back he swallowed hard, look around and kept talking like...did I just make a pass??

Paul's' face was...Did you just make a pass??

I liked today, bad staging and all. I love that Sonny acknowledged he should've stopped Brady and that he aided in endangering Joey's life. Plus he was so sweet with Paul- how they manage to give off schoolboy heart eyes chemistry in their mid-20s is beyond me. I chuckled so hard at that park scene though- must have been a long walk to the park complete with a stop at Sonny's hair dresser.

I liked that Chad had the flashback to screwing over Sonny, though the situation is different now kind of. Though with the way the scene was cut, was he remembering the actual screwing over or just the friendship bond? Are we finally gong to acknowledge that Chad torpedoed his business for funsies?

I didn't even hate Ciara today and I liked Theo and Roman. Orpheus and John looked like my grandpa trying to use a new gadget with those laptops in the park though and JJ's rent-a-cop costume tickles me every time.
Ironically this (in the bold)) is EXACTLY what I find so irritating about these two.

These are two grown ass MEN. Two grown ass gay men at that. NOT school boys. This puppy love crap is just shoddy straight washing to avoid writing anything remotely realistic. OK OK Harvey Feirstein (Torch Song Trilogy) once said, "Visibility at all cost," but COME ON.

I mean, if gay characters STILL don't look or act anything like us, doesn't that still make us invisible. Normally, I wouldn't be bothered by that, but the WilSon SL was so good and so much better than what we usually get and once upon a time was actually innovative and fresh. PaulSon's puppy love is selling us (and DAYS) way short. :shame:

Hardly "epic" (as someone else said).

I don't see puppy love...I see Sonny flirting, maybe trying to get Paul to come one more forceful, but IMO last time they put Paul in the drivers seat. Now the roles are reversed.. Paul is being flirted with. And I don't think that has anything do with age, my mom at 72 flirted with guys.

I did want to see this, the roles reversed. Paul in the end last time, came off as pathetic, it's time for Sonny to put the moves on Paul. I love Chandler Massey and Freddie's Smith's Wilson, simply because it came off as two guys that really loved each other. Guy Wilson's pairing disappointed me, when he went to California with Sami... I don't buy Chandler's Will would have ever did that.

I don't see puppy love at all, I just see a different side of Sonny and Paul. They look at each other a lot like my best friend looks at his husband and they've been together for almost 8 years- like there's always something new to discover and new to be charmed by, like they just met.

I like seeing this side of Sonny and Paul, especially because they didn't fall in love onscreen. I can sort of imagine a little how their relationship started when they were younger and what Sonny was like when he was younger and fell for Paul in the first place- flirty, excessively complimentary, and a lot more "smiley." It's nostalgic in a good way for me as a viewer.

Personally, I was never a Wilson shipper so you lost me there  . Puppy eyes or not, Paul and Sonny have a much more mature chemistry and rapport, in my opinion. They feel like equals. Wilson always felt like a mentor/mentee power imbalance, which would have made more sense if Sonny was 20 years older, not 2. Now that I think about it, maybe Will needed a maturer guy. I used to think Sonny was oddly mature for his age, but then i realized Will was just immature for his age in everything that didn't involve raising Ari.

This was my first thought as well.

I could see it. Deimos was desperate for that baby.
Chloe/Philip suddenly breaking up on the day of the paternity results, and Chloe leaving Salem was a bad move on their/her part and I think raised a red flag for Deimos.

They should have continued up the charade and had Chloe leave to go be with her parents/Parker because it was the safer place to be while Xander is still out there.

I have to agree. Those scenes were so over the top cheesy.
I don't even mind sweet and sentimental in general, but come on... Too much is too much.

Victor was a father figure to Xander. Ok Nicole lol
Look how Victor treats his son, Philip. He's not much of a father figure to anyone but Brady. Victor ONLY looks out for Victor.
When I was watching in the 80s Victor only had one nephew - Justin lol.
Maybe that's the reason he was a shitty brother, uncle and father :blulaugh: . All these retcons... :shame:

You got J. and O. alone with each other other than the bug in J. ear and phone with O. and the same actors played the parts years ago, and you don't show fbs to help explain their hatred for each other. :shame:
ICAM

I didn't wait decades for Orpheus to come back and finally come face to face alone with John to have them not even say one word about the past. Orpheus might as well have just been some random kidnapper John never heard of. I think GDH is great, and I've enjoyed Orpheus in his scenes but his return as Orpheus... In the role of Orpheus, as a historical Days villain, it has been a total waste so far.
I wouldn't say it's a total waste but they could have done so much better. They definitely should have used flashbacks, especially for younger viewers or even those who were watching in 1987. I know I've been watching because I remember Hope/Bo/yacht stuff but I remember Orpheus better from YT.
The current stuff is just so much more powerful when you've seen those scenes from 1987. Great scenes, actually. Why not use them?

I don't even know if it's mixed signals. I think Sonny likes talking to Paul because he makes him feel better and, in the moment, that's most important. He could care less about signals in the moment. He's also just a flirt :blulaugh: I love Sonny to pieces but he can be, what's the word, selfish (I can't think of a better word) I guess when it comes to seeking comfort from Paul when he probably shouldn't (see the whole of 2015).

But it seemed so much like the Paulson stuff got added in later. Which really doesn't make any sense.

I didn't understand the insertion of the final PaulSon scene either, it was obvious that it was taped months later because Freddie looked so different and it didn't add much to the rest of their scenes.

With all the weird editing, I think maybe they are cutting a lot of things and and replacing it with flashbacks or inserted scenes like this. My question is why all the cuts since it's all the new writing now? Are they cutting storylines that were dropped? Scenes that looked ridiculous?
