He's actually just as scary as Trump, just in a different way. He's competent, which makes him just as dangerous. |

The way he behaves on Twitter, I wouldn't be surprised if he made an account here & started calling us pigs & whores at 3am. :blulaugh: God, I'd pay good money to watch SC punch him so hard he had "blood coming out of his wherever." |

It has nothing to do at all with whether your experience is right or wrong. I did not experience abuse myself, but I know people who have, and they did not repeat the cycle either. I don't believe anyone's experiences are "right" or "wrong" and if you think that's what people in this thread are trying to assert to you, I'm so sorry, because that's immeasurably hurtful, but I also think you've misinterpreted the posts. Or at least mine, anyway. It's that not everyone's experiences are the same as yours. Other people DO grow up to continue the actions of their guardians. Some people who grow up in abusive homes or have abusive experiences (or are taught abusive behavior) go on to perpetuate it. With that knowledge in mind, if we can do anything, large or small, to prevent that, shouldn't we stand up and try? I realize that this is not at all the same topic, and I hesitate to use the example in case I'm being ignorant of some offensive detail, but do you not believe that slavery in this country was perpetuated, at least in part, by the fact that it was considered a societal norm? Everyone who owned slaves did so ONLY because they were sick fucks, and not because they grew up in a house where mom and dad taught them that black people were property? That's learned behavior. If you believe with all your heart that another human is inferior, you're not going to feel guilty when you hurt them. Same with women, IMO. If you've been taught they're not your equal, what's to keep you from taking what you want? They don't feel hurt like you do, they're lesser, so what's the real harm in it? I do believe that there are people born sick, and people born with a tendency to be kind and good, but there is SO much more at play than just your natural instincts. My point there is that Donald Trump is in an extreme position of power at the moment - the one able to do some of the teaching to our children and young people, whether we like it or not. He has permeated our daily lives. He's everywhere, and unfortunately he's the kind of person that can perpetuate the inhumane idea that one person can take something from another without consent and it's okay. As far as I'm concerned, the damage this causes is not even remotely quantifiable. |

House Speaker Paul Ryan said he was "sickened" by Trump's comments and disinvited him from a planned joint event Saturday in Wisconsin with Priebus and Sen. Ron Johnson. Trump said he would send his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, to the event in his place while he prepares for Sunday's presidential debate in New York with Priebus and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. |

The republican party is a well-oiled machine. Even when everyone in the party (except that freak Ben Carsen) hates Trump's guts, they'll still publically support him no matter what. They're willingness to stick together no matter what is one of the main reasons why they're such a strong political party. :shame: |

Haven't been on here much lately, but as a Days fan and political junkie I had to stop by here. I hope Ari is okay and isn't harassed too much. I really hope she knows that her fans have her back, and I encourage everyone to FB/tweet/etc their support to her. She's going to need it. Hardcore Trump supporters might take some frustration out on her. I'm sure she's got her friends and family. But fan support can't hurt. And I think it's wise for her to lie low for the time being. Beyond that, this is just surreal. Sometimes I feel like soap operas, especially Days, has become this sort of "niche" culture. We all know the soap industry is not what it used to be. So when one of "our own" gets roped into something so big, so overwhelming, and something with such huge global implications, it feels personal in a different way. We hardcore soap fans tend to stay in our own little corner of the entertainment world, minding our own business. Now the record has scratched, the music has stopped, and everyone has turned their heads toward us. But more importantly than that, I truly hope that Days fans keep up their support of Ari. And I'm happy to see her co-stars/friends vocally supporting her. |
