My dad has been saying all along that he can't see any way Trump would last even a year as president. He'll either get impeached, or quit after realizing he can't just do whatever he wants. Unrelated to the post I replied to, I don't care if someone disagrees with me. I lived for many years with someone who was Republican, and I am not. We had some really great, perfectly civil conversations despite the fact that she felt differently than me about many economic issues, abortion, etc. But having opposing views enters entirely different territory for me once the opposing views entail supporting a person who I feel is a direct danger to our country, and more specifically, to minority groups. I'm not prepared to watch my friends live in fear that their lives are about to fall apart while this schmuck railroads right over our constitution (and basic human decency, for that matter). He's an attention-seeking jerk, and the most dangerous thing about him, in my opinion, isn't that he's a racist or a sexist. It's that he doesn't give a flying fuck what I, or anybody else really thinks, as long as someone is whispering praise in his ear to feed his ego, putting money in his pocket to satisfy his expensive taste, and there's a giant sign flashing in gold lights somewhere that spells out T-R-U-M-P, to make him feel successful and important. That, as far as I'm concerned, is one of the most dangerous cocktails of motivation for a leader that I could possibly think of. |

Right, yet people are now saying Trump is unfit LOL. Sorry, I can't wrap my head around some of the hypocrisy. Of course it's possible Trump could lie under oath. Hillary lied under oath about her e-mails. Posted Image |

Every so often I think exactly what funone said earlier, that he never thought he'd get this far and doesn't really want to do the dreadfully restrictive, dreadfully unfun job that is being the president. He just is too proud to back down now that he's this far. Nothing he's saying is ever going to come true. There is no realistic way that there is going to be a wall along the southern border and even less of a possibility that Mexico is going to pay for it. The idea of safe zones in Syria makes me cry. Leaving NAFTA would cause trade retaliation and recession, regardless of whether or not we should have done it in the first place. He'll have very little to show after four years and very little of his outlandish promises will come to pass. He's not going to be a winner and that messes up his brand. No wonder he loves to say that everything that goes against him is part of a rigged system. That's the only way he can lose and still win. |

He says no, so far. He's been quite defiant. If he did, then the RNC would have to choose someone else, either by another convention or a vote of members. Maybe Pensk, he made a good enough impression at the VP debate and is a very traditional conservative. He's also got Trump as baggage maybe, though, I dunno. Anyway, the process would take some time, and we have about 4 weeks left until election day so it would be a squeeze. Some states already have mailed out their absentee ballots so whoever replaced Trump wouldn't even appear on all the ballots. |

I'm nervous it could be Pence, but it's not likely he would be elected anyway right? At least I hope not. Edited by funone, Oct 8 2016, 07:53 PM.

I mean, a lot of people liked Pensk on Tuesday night and wished he was running for president all along instead of Trump. But if he were to replace Trump now, Trump supporters might be really pissed off on election day. Same reason the RNC nominated Trump in the first place despite their misgivings about him as a candidate. Trump generated higher turnout than anyone else in the Republican primary, his passionate support base is a thriving part of the right wing, and even though many hate him, he won that primary by a landslide according to popular vote. I can't see the future, but I think the RNC feel like they're between a rock and a hard place with no good immediate answers. There's probably a reason why they're trying to focus so much on the senate now. |

I have the laugh at the hypocrisy of Hillary supporters lecturing me on who I support. This election is so scary for part of the country because they are afraid of what she'll do. It isn't just Hillary supporters who are afraid their rights will be infringed upon. |
