I'm not getting in a circle of nastiness here. I'm Just scratching my head at people who defend Trump and down Hillary. Hillary doesn't represent every view I have. I am a very complex person, born in the south, partially raised on the west coast, returned to the south, and I am a political mutt. I am a registered Democrat just to be honest, but I have voted for Republicans before. HOWEVER, This has always been bigger than politics to me when it comes to Trump! This has become about a man who views one gender as an item to be toyed with, then thrown away (He said to Howard Stern that when women reach 35 "It's check out time"). Bill Clinton was a sleaze at times yes, but Trump has said he'd "do" his daughter if he could and told Howard Stern he could call Ivanka a "Piece of Ass". I just can't see Bill wanting anyone calling Chelsea "a piece of ass". As for Hillary, Who is the one running for President!!! Hillary Clinton has given her entire life in service of those who are minorities and facing segregation in the south. She made sure every child in Arkansas, even in the forgotten Ozarks (I wish I could invoke Clyde here to make this Days related...but he lived on the Missouri side) she made sure kids had the curriculum they needed to go to any university in the nation and hold their own. I disagree with her on several issues, but I find her to be shady but acceptable. Donald is disgusting on every level imaginable. How can people even draw a comparison now?? I'll say this, at least it's made Republicans run from him like they are facing down a hurricane. After all he's said, it took this to turn them, and the Stern leaks today. Good, too little too late though. If you don't like Bill's past behavior, I understand! Neither do I!! Still, I don't get why it's invoked now! Why are some people (off this board, not on it. I have no beef on here!) acting like he is being elected to a third term????? Who cares now. He rode out that crisis because he apologized over, and over, and over. Trumps only apology was marred by putting down Bill in hopes his surrogates would follow suit. I guess some listen to everything Donald says like he's some sort of perverted political messiah. Trump didn't give an apology....it was a half hearted sorry, that spun into saying "But Bill...". It's like watching one of my kids get in trouble but try to deflect on one of her sisters. It's a tactic a six year old uses, and guess what, it looks like only his die hard surrogates are accepting it now. People are running from this man now, and I can only ask why it took so long?? He's been making sexist remarks for decades LOL, Days last influence on the general culture outside the soap world may be the effect this recording has had on the election. It's made the republicans finally jump ship. Welcome aboard the Trump Disdain Train, GOPer's!! Better late than never. |

You're not inferior. But your assumption that Clinton would be a worse president than Trump is a complete fantasy. I hate Clinton and I really wanted Sanders to win the primary. But Trump would destroy America. I'm so glad he has no chance now. |

I want to vote for Bernie! He seems more sensible! Don't know what America was thinking though. People thought Donald may be the one to fix it, but he is saying things that makes people believe he can, but it can't happen because he has to compromise with Democrats and Republicans if he is President. You know folks, he's saying things just to get into the White House??? What he says 90% won't come true...I think in my mind :embarrassed: As for Hillary, I think people are voting for her, not because she does fine work....its because she was in the White House before with her hubby and wants the history to repeat itself. Not to mention, the icing on the cake----------->The First Lady President. I do believe she will win! As for Trump, he is going to suffer after his election ride. No one would want to work for him or team up with him with projects. I am not even sure if NBC would give his old show back to him. I loved that show. I am fully disappointed in Trump! :shame: If he would have gone the right way, he would have had my vote! |

This is the type of put down I was talking about earlier. No I don't listen to Donald like he's some sort of messiah, nor do I agree with everything he says (and especially his comments). But I find the implication that no sane or fair person could support Trump over a corrupt Hillary Clinton (who has had scandal after scandal going back to the days when Bill was the Governor of Arkansas - Whitewater) pretty insulting. |

I wonder if all these celebrities were as upset at the attacks on Sarah Palin and her family than they are about Trump? She's woman, but since she's a Republican, I guess they thought it was funny to make fun of her pregnant daughter and make up vicious rumors. |

I'm slightly interrupting this regularly scheduled program because I am pretty disgusted by how many people here are characterizing the Black Lives Matter movement. Clearly, you really have no idea what African-Americans go through every day in this country and have gone through since their ancestors were kidnapped, murdered, and tortured for one of the first big capitalist endeavors in the U.S.: slavery. If you read the guiding principles of the Black Lives Matter movement here you may learn something about people unlike yourself and your will find a movement committed to peace and justice and equality for all marginalized people. Here's a good article published yesterday that explains some of what occurs to African-Americans who are constantly targeted by law enforcement for no other reason but being black: American Nightmare: the Criminal, Justice System I would also like to point out that murdering innocent people is not the same as damaging or destroying public property. I wouldn't even call the latter "violence," but if you must, it is SO not on the same level as KILLING innocent people for existing while black. Finally, let's see what MLK has to say about protests and "violence": I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection. I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress. I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that the present tension in the South is a necessary phase of the transition from an obnoxious negative peace, in which the Negro passively accepted his unjust plight, to a substantive and positive peace, in which all men will respect the dignity and worth of human personality. Actually, we who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. We bring it out in the open, where it can be seen and dealt with. Like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured. :soapbox: |
