Lots of people say crap they should never say but they do say it. It has nothing to do with boys will be boys. I've heard worse from women.

One last thought for the female audience who keeps remarking about Xander's (who happens to be an abusive asshole) (but that doesn't matter obviously) body and how they'd like him shirtless and trouser-less...do "they" know about the word HYPOCRITE?

They are as sexist as any man, and sometimes worse.

These two quotes are addressing different issues, but I will reply to both of the quotes together.

I am a woman. My personal orientation is to be attracted to men.
However, *for me*, I consciously choose *NOT* to objectify men.
I won't objectify men in real life. Nor will I objectify male fictional characters.
This is my personal choice.

I remember being in a workplace and the coworkers in my office were all female, and once a month all of us women went out to lunch together, and my coworkers' chatter went to discussing hot men in a vulgar way that objectified them. My female boss was present but she said nothing. After the lunch, I spoke to my boss privately and asked her how she'd feel if the male coworkers elsewhere in the building were objectifying women in that way. She saw my point and thereafter she steered the lunchtime convos away from objectifying talk. My boss couldn't control private conversations, but she could influence the official luncheons.

I find the actor Paul Telfer attractive but I won't objectify him. I realize that there isn't a clear line between healthy appreciation of a body and objectification of a body, but I try to stay on the appreciation side.

Although the character of Xander was written to be sexy, I stopped cheering for that character when he became violent towards other characters. I found the violence to be a turnoff, and I can't see the character as sexy any more.

What I find most appealing about Paul Telfer is that he adores his wife, he supports her theater career. And he has planned out his acting gigs to be short term so that he can support her larger career -- because she travels to perform theater in different cities. That to me is sexy in a healthy way.

Just my personal viewpoint.

-- edit to add:
Laurondo just posted:
"There's kind of a big difference between commenting on how nice of a body he has and saying you can literally do anything you want to the man because you're a star, and that you're gonna grab him by his genitals."

Exactly.

I don't trust Hillary, but Trump?

The comments he made about Ari are unacceptable and awful, but they're part of the bigger problem that is Donald Trump. He's not only a misogynist, he's a bigot, too. He's spoken out against Mexicans, handicapped people, a prisoner of war. He doesn't take responsibility for himself. If he's challenged in any way, the first thing he usually does is insult the other person, complete with name calling, and attack them. It's his pattern.

He's immature.

I have to wonder, if he's elected, how long it would be before he offended someone enough to cause some kind of war. He'd probably cause more than one. He doesn't think first. He attacks, uncaring of potential consequences. It's clear he has a hair-trigger temper.

I think he'd be a dangerous president.

I've been saying that all along. He cannot be diplomatic. He's going to alienate our allies and piss off our enemies.

It's one thing to have political differences when it comes to the economy or state vs federal or whatever. This election is very different. I know people want it to be as simple as "we have a difference of opinion" but it's just not. There's much more on the line for many people this time, and it's no longer a situation where a simple agree to disagree even makes sense.
Cannot be said enough.

*I'm not even an American, but this election is bigger than all of you. Nuclear football, I'm lookin' at you and imagining those six seconds.

I agree. And it's not just Trump, it's his advisors/team too. He would bring a team into power. And my biggest worry is that he and his team would set back human rights by decades and that he could send the world into nuclear war.

Very serious election.
Trump & Putin both in power scares the crap out of me.

He's losing endorsements because they wanna save face because they think he's going to lose,it's pathetic it took THIS to do it,when it should've been the "Mexicans are murderers and rapists" or "McCain isn't a hero because he was captured" or mocking a disabled reporter,I could go on but it's a long list that will no doubt be longer by Election Day.

It's definitely a sad state of affairs of race relations in America. Make racist, salacious, crude, disparaging comments about people of colour or people of non Christian faiths? It's fine. But make those comments about a blonde white girl and it's unconscionable and disgusting.

America, hang your head.

One thing I appreciated about this thread was where we touched on understanding why people feel as they do. I have never liked Trump since before he decided to run for president, I found him sleazy as a reality TV show host and terrible during his birther movement nonsense. But I've also been extremely uncomfortable with the way some on the left, including some of my friends, discuss Trump supporters without any empathy. I think there are bigots and reactionaries among his supporters, and I think he purposely riles them up, but I also think that much of his support comes from anxiety about lost jobs and a general feeling of disconnect and isolation from the rest of the country. What I find ironic is that, at least the way I see it, everybody feels disconnected from everybody, and I do think that's sad, regardless of the fact that I stick by my political opinions.

I have my anxieties about Clinton too, most of them regarding foreign policy. I think she is pretty opportunistic and says a lot of things she doesn't really mean (see TPP/keystone pipeline/etc) but I don't think she is chaotic and unpredictable, or uniquely underhanded by Washington standards, and I do think she's smart. I hope in four years there will be both more stability and less oppression in the world, domestically and abroad. Maybe she'll be a part of it, maybe it'll happen around her and she'll just have to take care not to mess it up, I don't know. I think those issues can be more complicated than people sometimes allow for. Anyway, I take my vote really seriously even though it's just one vote that probably won't make a difference in the state in which I live. You never know for sure how the future will turn out, but I hope for the best.

He's already had meetings with the president of Mexico and the prime minister of Israel. There didn't seem to be a problem. I think alot of the things he say and do are for show. He can be diplomatic when he needs to be.

"You're So Vain" singer-songwriter Carly Simon is repurposing her wildly popular song from 1972 as an anti-Donald Trump anthem.
The first time Simon has allowed the song to be put toward a political cause.

Anyway, this works fine. Honey, you look horrific.

For the record, Juanita Broaddrick denied the allegations against Bill Clinton in 1998 UNDER OATH at a time when it mattered.

"In a sworn affidavit on Dec 23, 1998, Juanita Broaddrick denied an “unsubstantiated, hearsay claim” made by the Paula Jones’ legal team that Bill Clinton had invited her (as Jane Doe #5) to a hotel room and forced her to have sex.

Under oath, Broaddrick said the rumors were “untrue”."

Here is the link to her affidavit, per the Washington Post:

I understand why we here are talking about this particular Trump incident, because it is Days-connected, but it boggles my mind that of all the horrific, immoral, unethical, and criminal things Trump has said and done, THIS is what is getting the most attention in the media and this is what might bring a halt to his campaign?
Not calling Mexicans rapists and drug dealers.
Not making fun of disabled people.
Not his racist comments against Muslims, "the blacks," and so many other people of color.
Not losing more money than most of us could ever fathom and in return, foregoing paying all federal income taxes for two decades.
Not his creepy infatuation with his daughter Ivanka whom he has said he'd like to fuck if she weren't related to him.

No. What the public is most appalled about is his misogyny toward a couple of celebrities. I am not dismissing how awful his words were, but it in the scheme of things, it seems that this incident at the Days set kind of pales in comparison to so many others ... Including this (alleged) one:

Child rape claim against Trump

Apparently, a woman claimed that Trump raped her in 1994 when she was a thirteen-year-old wannabe model in NY. Whether or not that is true (probably), what is more horrendous is that Trump was involved in what appears to be a child prostitution ring in which underaged girls were brought to parties to "entertain" the wealthy men of NYC.

So damn sick.

Yes, Trump should have been pilloried long ago. The fact that he got away with every single thing he said time after time no matter who called him out just set the expectations lower and lower and it was mind boggling. Four, or even two years from now, it will be a little ghastly to look back and see how many people made excuses for this or that.

This leak of the AH video was obviously a calculation, but I am glad for it because it finally made his awfulness visceral for a lot of people. That said it's very frustrating that it took this long for some people to see what he is and has been for a long time and continues to be.

Ana Navarro Smith, a Republican analyst at CNN, went off on a Trump surrogate the day before the AH video came out, it was cathartic:

Apparently nbc can't release the videos of Trump being vulgar, worse then the video we've seen on the apprentice set because Mark Burnett won't let them.😡
Doesn't surprise me since Burnett is/ was a business partner & supporter of Trump.

Supposedly all of the crew of the Apprentice signed non-disclosure agreements
so speaking out to what happened & what was said could get them sued.

Women lie about whether they are raped or not for a whole variety of reasons. She claims she was raped now and I believe her. What happened to believing in the victim? Regardless, there are a whole laundry list of women that Bill was inappropriate with. I realize this is a Trump thread, but nothing excuses Bill's behavior and IMO Hillary's shaming them.

I posted this link way back in the thread, but I'll repost here.

Detailed interviews with cast, crew and a producer of The Apprentice, in which they describe Trump's attitudes towards women on the set. By a reporter from the Associated Press.
https://www.apnews.com/2778a6ab72ea49558445337865289508/AP:-'Apprentice'-cast-and-crew-say-Trump-was-lewd-and-sexist

It's not recordings. However it seems that multiple staff/cast claim similar things, so it seems to have truth.
