With all the Kristen talk I had to go back and read through the thread b/c I thought that meant she was coming back. I'm a little disappointed right now.

[A DOOL clip of Nicole and Eric at the Rectory. Nicole in a modest black and white print dress. Eric dressed as a priest.
Nicole says to Eric: the only way we'll make amends is if I never see you again!]
Interesting clip choice, considering the description of Nicole's wardrobe in that particular scene. I haven't been able to watch this clip, so I'm not exactly sure what the dress looks like, but it doesn't sound like the typical Nicole Walker dress. We all know the type of outfits the show tends to have Nicole wearing. If Today showed another clip of Nicole in a more "risque" dress, I could just hear the Trump supporters defending his comments and attacking Arianne regarding the way she's dressed in character. "She's dress like a slut!"

Agreed....John 100% was in love with Kristen.
What do you think, when did he fall out of love with her? after the reveal?
Or maybe he really still had lingering feelings for her in 2013, as it was stated in that one infamous TomSell scene LOL (I kind of don't believe it)?
He wasn't still in love with her at a certain point in the 90's (probably after the reveal) but he was in love with both for awhile and just loved Marlena more.

The 2013 thing is a total joke. There's no shot that was true after what Kristen did to them in the 90's. Let alone what she did to Marlena, the stuff with the baby is a John dealbreaker. He barely batted an eye when Marlena told him she pushed Kristen out the window. He was only concerned Marlena was ok.

Yes I thought the same thing.
It seemed intentional. To show her modestly dressed, speaking with a priest.

Arianne was Emmy-nominated for that Ericole scene, I think that's why they showed that clip.
Oh. okay that makes sense. Of course it's all about NBC's image.

Sorry. Just trying to pretend the other stuff isn't happening.

I think he fell out of love with her during the secret room reveal.

I thought John was in love with Kristen, too.

And yeah I agree that he fell out of love with her during the secret room reveal.

Speaking of which. This conversation right here about the 90's is why it was ridiculous john and Marlena had sex the night of the Kristen reveal and got engaged. I mean I know it was an incredibly long wait from 91 until then to see J&M free to be together but good lord give it a few days.

Janet Shamlian to the Today Show: But her fictional character, she says, has never been through anything like this.

That part of the overvoice made me smile a little. It's no doubt what would have been written as introduction had literally any dramatic actress been the one in AZ's situation, but Nicole has been a bit closer to "this" than most soap characters thanks to her father forcing her to do Locker Room Lolita. It's not precisely the same, but closer than most people real or fictional have come.

The pictures of her with her daughter also showed her dressed way way down-- jeans and hoodies, being outdoorsy. I doubt that's a coincidence either, since there are plenty of pictures of her dressed up while being a mom too.

They showed part of the Ericole clip from the police station after the Kristen/Nicole accident.
Let's all do that thing where we overact to the choice of clip and choose to believe it's a sign that NBC wants Ericole!
I'm in!

I ask myself, why did they waste so much time with them and wasted her on Daniel!??

I wasn't implying anyone from the audience did (I have no idea, actually). I just didn't like this writing direction, because I couldn't get behind the character's motivation.
I understand your point. I just wish that instead of taking an established character and completely changing everything about her without explanation, they'd honor who characters were and let them evolve. She could have become the person she was in 2013 without it being at the expense of everyone else...including her former self. They might as well have brought Wendy back and given her that writing. The only thing that was the same between the two stints was her first name (because they changed her last name too). They also could have pretty easily explained the changes in Kristen if they tried, but nothing could have explained the stupidity/apathy in pretty much everyone else in Salem but Marlena when she returned.
I think I get your point as well. It would be ideal to keep as much integrity of the character as it's possible. But I think it's too much to ask from soaps these days. And I'm not only talking about Days - right now my head is exploding because Y&R characters are getting personality transplants every second episode - you just don't know whether what you watched a month, a week, or heck a day ago happened or not. Such a weird feeling :stars:

At least Kristen was 15 years off the show. And even in the 90s her character underwent a radical tranformation - I actually can't imagine that the same Kristen who was praying outside the cabin after Marlena gave birth to Belle later did all those horrible things. So IMO after that she could have become anything and everything (I still think raping a priest was OOC for her, but well...). So her changes weren't unacceptable to me.
IMO the most important thing that remained the same between the two stints was the actress lol. That helped a lot.

That clip was from years ago though, Nicole has worn plenty of outfits since then that would have been equally suitable.

It was an emmy nominated scene so could have been chosen because of that, or maybe part of the reason.

I'm going to choose to take it as a positive sign for Ericole, whether I'm right or not.

I give them at least some credit for setting up the 2013 personality by having her talk to Brady about how traumatic it was to be disappeared (basically sold into sex slavery, although at the time it was played off as Susan/Edmund being funny), what her father did to get her out, what it was like to go straight from that to a five star hotel and how hard it was to start going outside, etc. I realize that she was manipulating Brady with the story but it always struck me as having some emotional truth to it.
