I think what Lysie means to say and correct me if I'm wrong Lysie. Is that John and Marlena were an established popular couple and Kristen didn't pimp them or prop them up like you're saying. To pimp means to elevate or make them greater like they today by force feeding us Rope. That's what I think of of when someone uses the word pimp. If not for Kristen they would have gotten together some other way. They didn't need her to make their story work. She was used as an obstacle and her descent to darkness is what made her popular or she'd just be a blip in DAYS history.
I understood but I disagree with it. :) Sure John and Marlena were endgame and yada yada, but that does not mean I liked that Kristen went psycho I mean a young, beautiful woman went crazy for John ??? Nah not credible in my book. And I do not like stories where women become a mess for a man. I like stories with strong women who go their own way. LOL maybe he was just that good!!... ask Princess Gina, Marlena Evans, Diana Collville, Yvette, Isabella Toscano, Rebecca Morrison, Kristen DiMera, heck even Susan Banks for a little while, Kate Roberts, Danielle (from 1991 or 92) or Tori Narita :roflol:
Geez how many women has this man been with!!?

Regarding Kristen personally, I loved the last head writers writing of her :) In the 90's, I remember only a sweet Kristen who became psycho which never make sense considering she was the beautiful, stylish, young, woman who could easily have got any man she wanted, but she turn psycho for John ??? WTF we usually talk about destroying the characters in stories or pimp another characters, well the 90th Kristen pimp Marlena and John, in my opinion. Bristen were hot and it was the only time I noticed the current Brady.l :)
Kristen? Stylish in the 90s? We may have different definitions of pimping, but Kristen didn't exist to make J&M look better, and she certainly didn't stand around talking about how amazing they looked. I think there might have been some confusion earlier when I said I preferred 90s Kristen to the more recent one. I don't mean I liked her better. I do mean that I enjoyed her story better. She was definitely a pathetic mess, but watching her downfall was enjoyable and well played by ED. I don't think her motivations were too difficult to follow, and I don't think it was all just about her loving John. I think part of it was that and part of it was her losing the baby and part of it was her screwed up childhood/parentage. That's why I say she was more layered then. However, that was a trope Reilly fell back on far too much back then. Kristen and Billie were too similar. If it hadn't been for the downfall into madness, she'd have just been another bland character that came through with little to no consequence. I agree on Kristen. After she married Tony, Kristen was boring and the Tony/John/Kristen story dragged on considerably. Any scene we got with J&M was so much better. I think Kristen going evil is what made her interesting.
I'm not as sure on Billie, but it is hard to imagine her relationship with Bo lasting long term. I liked it initially because it was different from Bope and Carbo, but it never felt as natural as original Bope to me.

I don't think any other male on DAYS has been with this many women especially not the half of a supercouple.
In a way John's kind of like Sonny Corinthos from General Hospital. I think Sonny's slept with 75% of the female cast on that soap.

Was he with Yvette? I thought there was one single kiss but nothing more. Yes, that was probably it. I haven't rewatched the 1988-89 episodes yet. Wasn't really a fan of that era, things got better after 1990. But it might have just been a kiss.

She looks better now than 20 years ago lol.
LOL. I just said that to someone else. She looks great now. She wasn't ugly then, but she does look better now. I wish there were a way to say that that didn't sound like an insult. it was all the dark lip liner and crunchy hair in the 90s. Made everyone look bad hahaha

Yeah, JER said that if he had stayed on Days he would have had Roman and Marlena actually get married during their wedding in the hospital chapel right before John came back with the cure. Thankfully by that time SSM was in charge and had John return in time to stop it. The room with the baby stuff was mentioned by John in 2003 when he, Marlena and Tony questioned Rolf about Rex and Cassie. I wonder what the original idea was. There was also that covered gurney that Stefano told Kristen not to touch.
Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. Thankfully JER left and SSM took over, aside from the Princess Gina stuff I did enjoy her writing, I'd take her writing today over DH. JER was given his own soap and he finally got his dreams and botched and stalled all the "rootable couples". It took like 8 years on the series finale for his main couple to finally get married and he stalled a triangle much like Bo/Hope/Billie, John/Marlena/Kristen for 8 straight years!!! And his other "endgame" couple (w/Galen ) I believe, didn't even end up together and don't get me started on all the supernatural hulks pocus that made absolutely 0% sense. The man was a trainwreck. Thankfully he left DAYS when he did in the 90s. Yes he did give us Maison Blanche, Aremid, the Secret Room... some worthy story with good payoff but the execution and sloppiness of these stories were just awful. There was a time I was watching Passions and DAYS at the same time in 2004-06 and it was clear that he was writing the same thing for both shows, just change the actors but the storyline were the same  I still loved JER. He at least wrote explosive payoffs. Stories dragged forever, but the payoff was always there. This has not happened on DAYS in soooo many years.

Speaking of which. This conversation right here about the 90's is why it was ridiculous john and Marlena had sex the night of the Kristen reveal and got engaged. I mean I know it was an incredibly long wait from 91 until then to see J&M free to be together but good lord give it a few days.
God, I really hate that reunion. I mean, it's the best he's probably ever looked. But OMG, it was so opposite of what I would have wanted.
It was rushed, and they were ready to get married the next day LOL I'm glad we had SSM write the wedding, because it was incredible. Just curious, how would you have had the 1997 reunion play out? I would have had them at the Penthouse, like they were. But I would have had Marlena pull away before taking it upstairs. "We need time." And John would have been steadfast, they know each other, they love each other, they'll be okay as long as they're together. And Marlena would have said "I do love you. And I don't doubt that you and I are going to be together forever. But we need time to heal. I was just held captive, you just lost a child."
They should talk, and talk, and date and have fun. It wouldn't have been about doubt, but about making sure they were both okay first.

I still loved JER. He at least wrote explosive payoffs. Stories dragged forever, but the payoff was always there. This has not happened on DAYS in soooo many years. I think a lot of our more recent writers have really been hampered by interference. They start a story, the story is unpopular they kill the story before we really see what they had planned for the story. I mean I've hated a lot of stories they've told over the last couple of decades, too. But I'm not sure how many stories we've seen play out the way the writers planned when they conceived of the story. Although, you would think that would happen less now with everything being 6 months ahead,
I don't think Dena ever really writes payoff, but I'm really not sure we actually ever saw a full Hogan Sheffer story.
