I like the picture but Katerina  is not a DiMera!!

Unless they are foreshadowing a Kate/Andre wedding!!
She was their stepmom for a while when she was married to Stefano. She was a Dimera. :ermm:
But the keyword is "was." And her connection was through a marriage that has now been dissolved. Abe is more of a DiMera than Kate is.

While I tend to agree that Kristen wasn't one-note during her 2012-2014 return, she didn't save John's life out of some noble purpose. She forced Eric to refuse to testify against her in exchange for saving John.
Right, but a completely one-note Kristen would have been happy to let John die, and would roll on his grave.
Depends on what you think her one note was. Fwiw, I think she had more than one note during the entire run, but I don't think she had more than one note at a time. And whether she had one note or twelve, I don't think she managed more than one layer this decade. That was my original distinction between the two in the 90s and more recently. I hated her in the 90s, and I still think I she was more sympathic then.

If we haven't finished this conversation by tomorrow, let's move it to the classic tread.

I agree that Kristen was pretty one note during her return. There were moments where she had potential to have more character dynamic (like the semi-harem/island reveal and her complicated relationship w/Stefano) but those moments quickly faded for Tomsell's Quasi rehash of her old storyline.

But I guess it's hard to write a good layered character when you're making up story ideas for said character on a week-to-week basis.

If Chloe is Brady's new love interest, it will be fun seeing Brady/Chloe and their two sons together. Maybe Tater will finally stop screaming now that Chloe's helping take care of him. :blulaugh:

Come on Chloe! Save a lil spud!

Good deal for Parker, too. For all his flaws, Brady won't model self-righteous patient molestation for the kid.

IMO it's difficult to compare a 90s character to a 2010s character in general. The storytelling manner is just too different. They had "more time" back then, the pacing was much slower. They had time for long "deep" monologues or dialogues. Now they don't have that. None of the soaps have that anymore. I can't imagine anyone on any soap having like 5+5+5+5 minutes monologues (like Kristen had when she found the letter) these days. Another thing, it was only one single year she was on the show in 2012-2013 (I won't talk about her short returns). So it's kinda difficult to compare.
In comparison to other characters (especially other returned characters) Kristen's character was interesting enough to me. I wish they had gone more "deep" with the character. I would have enjoyed if they had tried to talk about her harem experience in re: to what she did to Eric (even though I would have preffered they had done the Eric/Kristen thing differently, not as a rape).

Kristen was on nearly every day during that late 2012-2013 timeframe tho. She had more airtime than some of the characters who had been on canvas for over a decade.

Yea, that doesn't compare to the 7-8 yrs of her previous stint but it's not exactly chump change either. A lot could have been done for Kristen during her return but there was no real plan for her and it showed. The so called "revenge" plot dragged on for months at a time. It was ridiculous

I do love ED, JS and JM working together but something about Ali Sweeney/Sami in the DiMera circle has always bothered me. she just didn't belong.

But her s/l was still more enjoyable to me than other storylines in the last few years.
I think the biggest mistake Days has made was not trying hard enough to keep her on the show for longer.

And as much as I do like James Scott and EJ, I had serious issues with this show becoming "The DiMera Days" circa 2009-2013. I haven't really liked EJ as much since 2012. I'm glad it toned down. Thought the writing and plot still leaves a lot to be desired.

That's the thing. It was better than a lot of other stuff but that's almost more of a reflection of how bad the other stuff was lol.

Well, they change writing teams like gloves, but it's not getting better. (Nor is the storytelling much better on other soaps).
Maybe we should lower our expectations or something  .

I loved the show from that period and i do miss them all the Dimera's still can't believe Stefano is gone to me he was biggest character on Days ever when they killed him off it was like taking half the show away to me i still don't know why they did it. It was bad enough that killed EJ and Kirsten off but they had to do the same Stefano as well poor JM having his character in the end bumped off by Hope that was not how they should of ended his time on the show. They should of had him leave town to look for EJ i mean they had Sami do it off screen that would be so much better we all know how he loved his kids they could off show what a wonderful father he was in the end.

Lol, exactly. It was nothing but Dannifer, Bristen/Kristen, the baby/Nick storyline, Kate/Rafe and eventually the Sami trial. I still remember how we had an actual divine intervention (The 2013 Pope Conclave) for two days to give us a much-needed break during the Dannifer period.

The less said about Sami, her constant over-enunciation of "cool cloth", Marge Bernadi chewing through our television screen, and Adrienne's clunky flintstone jewelry, the better.

The only other watchable storyline was the baby/Nick stuff. And that's mostly because Blake Berris was doing such a great job carrying everyone throughout the pregnancy drama.
