I liked a lot of today, despite the flaws people have already discussed. One good thing about a disaster is that it should cause different interactions and at least this one did. Steve looking for Sonny and helping get Paul to the hospital. Joey and Sonny having an actual conversation.
Kate and Kayla's initial exchange might have been my favorite. After Kate said that she thought it was all over after Clyde was captured, Kayla's "welcome to the rest of the nightmare" was awesome, particularly when combined with the "guess what, it's not all about you" look she gave Kate along with it.
I didn't mind the Eduardo/Dario and Eduardo/Kate scenes, but they felt like they dragged a little. Maybe this show has finally worn me down and I don't know what to do with a conversation that lasts more then 45 seconds. Or maybe because it's just repeating stuff we already knew without any major drama in the reveal.
On, in an unpopular opinion, I didn't mind the teens today. I've actually kind of always enjoyed them when they are together as friends and not carrying frontburner storylines. Their scenes were fairly light and appropriate to the story, so they worked for me. And while VJ continues to be a poor actor, I liked the Kayla/Ciara scenes for the references to Bo, and to show the continued contrast between Kayla's optimism on full blast with everybody else, and her ability to put that optimism aside and just be scared with Steve. I don't love how it's all played, but I continue to find that contrast interesting.
Oh, and I liked the Paul/Sonny angst. Paul was a little TOO smiley when he first regained consciousness at the townhouse, but other than that, I thought they played it well. It makes sense to me that Paul would back off after his conversation with Sonny about Will the other day. It's classic story building to have one backing off just as the other might be wanting to step forward.
Disappointing Friday show. I found it boring. All these bombs went off, but there was no destruction or real peril. Paul and Dario looked as though they were just put in the scene with wounds. Having an aftermath of everyone being rushed into the hospital with a lot of frenzy is one way to go with it, but I didn't feel any urgency. No doctors rushing from patient to patient, no line of people ready to donate blood, no one crying with worry. Ciara and Claire stepping in to answer calls came across like a weak effort on their part. It was all very bland.
If they had actually tried to have Freddie and Christopher simulate real mouth-to-mouth, it probably would've been cringe-worthy, let's be real. That probably takes a little bit of time, logistically speaking, to coordinate and try to make look real, and knowing their break-neck shooting schedule, it doesn't surprise me they just avoided it altogether instead of spending time on it.
Also, in response to what Horitafan said, I'm not inferring anything at all from this scene about how they portray PaulSon as a "couple", because 1) they aren't in a relationship and 2) CPR is not sexual. I suppose it's fairly likely we would've seen something overtly romantic after a scene like that from Rope or Dicole, but Rope and Dicole are together.
Oh please. I can't tell U how many times I've seen CPR scenes done (both seriously & comically) to imply/enhance/instigate sexual/romantic situations. Why is it any more logistically challenging in this case?
True, PaulSon are not presently a couple, but they were a couple & they have a sexual/romantic history...and all that hand holding, cheek caressing etc etc would imply they are trying to put them back together and (speaking of logistics) they are the only 2 gay guys on the show (atm) so....
It was lame. Days is trying to have their cake (appeal/pander to the younger demographic/former WilSon fans) without actually following though.
It's not more logistically challenging in this case. I'm saying it's Days, and they're cheap, and they shoot things at a ridiculous pace and I honestly just figured they weren't going to stop and spend time dealing with the breathing stuff. I think that's why they made it so dark, too, to be honest. Can't see the fake chest compressions as easily that way either.
Yes, I agree with you completely that they are headed towards putting PaulSon together, that's obvious. But we're not there yet. I don't want to go from 0 (Sonny being off screen entirely and grieving for his murdered husband) to 60 (get-together sex). It's called build-up, and I personally never get invested in couples who don't have any.
Maybe it's just different tv settings. I remember I was able to see Eduardo in the van, or at least most of it, and some people couldn't. I think I have a harder time hearing things than seeing things but that's more actor mumbling/sighing through lines than my TV.

I enjoy the teens when they actually are portrayed as teens: The prom episodes (especially Claire/Henry/Belle/Marlena's scene awhile back); when they were all hanging out in HTS the first day at college, etc etc. I've enjoyed Theo & Abe's scenes together. But putting them in adult story lines has really backfired, especially since none of the actors in that group has the chops to pull it off.

I agree, which is why I enjoyed them for the most part today. I don't mind Claire and Ciara trying to keep Joey from doing something dumb (because despite his father's faith in him, he ain't all that smart). I actually thought the little moment where they bossed him around about the supplies and then answered the phones was kind of cute. Those are the kinds of scenes they SHOULD be doing. They aren't ready to carry major storylines (and maybe these particular actors never will be), so use them in supporting and relevant ways. I thought today was a good example of doing just that.

Mte. The green & annoying acting isn't as noticeable when they're doing "teen stuff" but honestly they make the already fragile (in quality) storylines even worse and just...ugh. Go away. They add nothing; everything seems filler and pointless.

Never cared, still don't care about Dario or Eduardo, before they made up or after. Eduardo confessing to Kate is a big whatever. Not like she's a moral upstanding citizen. Kate's little speech was bullshit...Eduardo is responsible for everyone's injuries and other damage.
The fallout from 8 bombs going off was a joke!
This whole SL has been that way. Big build up to NOTHING.
And I just saw a spoiler for next week that Orpheus commits suicide. REALLY? No big capture? No shoot out? He just offs himself???

Oh my god WHAT?! Are you kidding me? I can't with this show.
