Corday is probably wrong when he said after Christmas.
Abby most likely is on canvas in November, but maybe she'll stay away from Chad, Thomas and the rest of her family until after Christmas.

I'm not even sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know if NBC/DOOL hired Entura International to make copyright claims on behalf of the show?

If I had to guess, I'd probably think it was more likely NBC and not Corday/Sony who is doing that. Networks usually like to control what's available. Maybe it's higher up and Comcast, who owns NBC, is doing it. Who knows?? Out of everyone, they are the newest addition to the players involved. They only bought out GE's half in 2013, and things started disappearing in 2015, so perhaps the culprit is Comcast.

But in this case, he specifically started Abigail, Shane and Kimberly would all start airing after Christmas. But they'll all actually be back on air within the next 2-4 weeks.

Why in the world would they do that. Why deprive fans from seeing old clips?

No, Sony did. There was alot of discussion in the classic thread on this board when Entura started taking down Days clips on Youtube last year. I'm suprised there are still channels that have lasted this long.

Per the casting call, Scooter is described as a 35-45-year old "handsome, eccentric, elitist math professor with an addiction to sex."

WTF? His adult name is Sparky, no wait...Bubba, no wait...Corky, no wait...Skippy? Of the thousands upon thousands of names, his character name is Scooter? It would be so funny if he rode around Salem on a scooter. ^o) :soapbox:

IMO, Sami the Bull was almost as bad as Therea. "May the door hit her in the ass where the sun don't shine next month & PLEASE JL, don't return to Days."

Okay, thanks for the replies. It's just super annoying to have all my videos taken down. I didn't even back them up! :(

I get the clips are copyright protected.. And that it's complex. But I personally think - the crew members such as directors aside - it would be a win-win situation to have old clips up. Not from the 2010s but before that. Writers and actors could do research, fans could get to know the entire story if they've jumped on board later, the cast members and characters could get more fans, and the show could gain new viewers. Besides, classic 80s/90s stories are far more likely to attract new fans than the show that airs anyway..

And speaking of copyright, does anyone know how the actors get compensation for their work on Days or is it a trade secret? Like an actor is featured in an episode. Do they get paid once, and after that nothing even if the episode re-aired in the States or aired abroad? Or do they get paid extra (the original amount or less?) if the episode airs again / airs abroad? What's the price of an actor being used in a flashback, some percentage of the original pay or do every actor despite the size of their paycheck get the same $$?

And re: the original post..
Probably some of the copyright claims were just waiting to be processed when you changed your video settings to private, hence the third strike and the termination of the YouTube account.

The only thing I read from reliable sources is that actors get paid a full episode pay for a flashback. That's the reason why soaps relatively rarely use flashbacks of actors who aren't on the show anymore.

YouTube is useful to the show. That's why it's very unlikely the show has anything to do with the videos being removed.

I think this CR protection thing is more of a legal thing than them thinking about what's useful or not for Sony or other parties involved.

I heard someone asked several cast, and they did not said anything, nor deny it. So yeah, we don't know it.

Freddie said in an interview last week that he doesn't think they will bring back Will but they could. It sounded like a candid answer, I don't believe Chandler or Guy have been on set recently.

Either that or he still has week remaining on his current 13 week cycle, even though he has been let of out his contract...thus Y&R would still be able to feature him until those 13 weeks are up, without having to pay him for use of previously filmed material.

Yes, flashbacks count as a full day's pay, whether it's someone on (not appearing that day) or someone no longer with the show. So, besides what you mentioned, if someone currently on the show (but not in that certain episode) appears in a flashback, it counts as part of their guaranteed # of episodes.

We do know the February rumors were incorrect though. People thought they saw Chandler in the Club TBD photo that Vincent Irizarry posted on February 2. A week or two later, Chandler's former publicist said he could neither confirm nor deny whether Chandler was back. However, those Club TBD scenes aired in July, and Chandler never showed up. It is now October.
