Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
It is a waste and that's the most frustrating part about the whole thing. This show has some really good actors who want and are able to handle deeper, stronger material. Yet, inevitably, they waste that talent and that history.

I can understand that some things can't be like they were in the 80's and 90's. Big umbrella storylines and adventures are mostly out because of the budget. I get that. But the budget shouldn't affect the ability to write decent, emotional stories. That's all about talent and commitment and Days seems to have a difficult time finding either.

I also recognize that this show desperately needs a stronger middle and younger generation. I don't have a problem with the vets being in more supporting roles with fewer (but not zero) frontburner stories. But they can't even do a good job at that either. Instead of really using family relationships and friendships, they pay occasional lip service to them and then forget about them for months.

Anyway, it's just frustrating when you can see potential - whether in a particular story or scene, couple or character - and the writing consistently destroys that potential. Because I honestly don't understand why. Other than the stock answer of . . . because Dena.
Seriously. It would be extremely cheap to do the kind of emotional fall out and follow up people seem to ask for. You don't need a pretty set for it. You don't need explosions. Camera angles are cool but not necessary when the dialogue is there.
What makes it more frustrating is instead of those deep emotional scenes, we see the same characters having the same conversations for months.

And to what Esp13 said about the generations, where are joey and Claire and Paul with S&K and J&M now after the mess? They use them for the kidnapping plot, plot, plot, then nothing. Especially in J&M's case last week, they both almost die and instead of seeing the kids, he's looking at real estate and she's yapping with Andre.

They literally were becoming my favorite :'(
Sorry, but I think GG and chemistry aren't compatible lol. On second thought, maybe if he had a co-star like Michelle Stafford it could get interesting.
I disagree. GG was fabulous with McKenzie Westmore as Sheridan on Passions. I really liked him with AS too, until that pairing got torched just to appease the EJami base, which I still see as a travesty to this day. :soapbox:

IMO, it's not so much that he can't have chemistry with female characters -- it's more the fact that they have screwed up his pairings over half the time. If Jordan's character had been more developed or they had picked a different actress, I could've seen the pairing go much better than it did. It had potential, don't get me wrong, but so much was wrong with Jordan's character from the start.

Despite her aggressiveness I always thought she had chemistry with her leading men. On Y&R and GH,

Galen is just anti-chemistry. The one time he had chemistry with someone I think was Passions, I forgot the actress' name.
GG and McKenzie Westmore were great together imo. I'm still annoyed that Sheridan and Luis didn't end up together at the end of PSSNS.
You and me both. Passions will always be my favorite soap (next to Days of course) and it infuriates me to this day how they screwed up Shuis. Like...who in their right mind thought that Emily Harper had better chemistry with GG vs. McKenzie Westmore?

Don't even get me started, lol. :)

Rope are killing this show. I hate them more than I did Dannifer. :badmood:
Those are some big words, considering that Dannifer was about THE WORST couple ever concocted on this show. Granted, there are a few others in the same category, but still.

Dannifer didn't eat the show in the same way that Hope/Rope have been for the past year. Dannifer sucked, but Rope suck more, to me.
