Quoting limited to 3 levels deepis
It's not Botox why many veterans look "unnatural", they have much more serious work done to their faces IMO.
Nah. It's the fillers, which aren't particularly serious either. When it's fresh, though, it looks weird sometimes. I don't think the more serious stuff is as much of an issue as people think. I think for the 60+ crowd it's just gotten to the point that they clearly should have more wrinkles than they do, so they look weird. It worked okay when they were younger, but like...at some point you have to age. Though, as I've said many times, IMO most of them do actually look really good in person. And not nearly as smooth and wrinkle-less. It's weird. I thought everyone but Lauren looked good in person on the book tour last year.

I thought everyone but Lauren looked good in person on the book tour last year. I have met. a lot of the cast & LK definitely stands out in terms of fillers & Botox, it is very noticeable IMHO DHer didn't look as plastic as I expected her to look, for her age she looks good.
I think KA, MBE & AZ all look great & whatever they do looks pretty natural.

Cracks me up that Days being up 1,000 viewers is the ratings headline for the week. Days was the only soap that increased in total viewers & I believe their overall rating went up 0.01. But +1000 & +0.01 were definitely correctly described as "slightly". lol. I think the ratings headline tries to be positive unless there's nothing positive or a drop is really significant (like reaching a new low).

Thoughts as I watch:
Glad J & M are checking in on Abe.
Doug! yay!
It's really hard to watch Hope and Ciara have a conversation so serious dressed like that. Though mentioning of Bo, remembering that Victor is her grandfather [remember when Hope and Ciara lived with Victor after Ciara's kidnapping?] - it is nice.
J/M and S/K not recognizing Orpheus is a little hard to buy. That voice is SO recognizable... but I suppose they do think he is dead.
Am I happy to see Jade? That's weird.
Obviously Andre shall be sharing the tape since Ciara, Doug and Julie [and Roman and Rafe] are in one place.
Did Claire call Hope GRAN?
And holy mother, they mentioned David?? You had to wonder if they really would. You figured they'd HAVE to, but given this show, you never know.
Doug: "Andre came dressed as himself for Halloween." LOL. That legit made me chuckle.
I wish they would show a little flashback of Hope in her original cop uniform, since they keep mentioning it.
It's also a little weird that there are no Chad/Jennifer/Gabi/Maggie/Adrienne/Lucas at this so called Abby benefit. [JJ gets a pass for being in the hospital, and I suppose that's where Jen or Gabi are but still... where's at least Chad?]
Is John talking less than usual? Does this have something to do w/ his injury? He just seems to be gesturing a lot.
This was actually a really fun set-up episode after a boring as hell week.

What the fuck did Deidre Hall do to the hair stylist on this show?! Her hair always looks like shit anymore.
Speaking of looking like shit ... I caught an episode earlier this week and I have to say, it was SO difficult to watch so many of the veterans (save for MBE and possibly MR) because they all seem to have too much hair dye and too much work done on their faces. It was extremely disconcerting to me. I think they would all look better growing old gracefully (i.e., naturally). I don't care if it is "normal" in Hollywood to be so tweaked - it looks freaky. It's why I love MBE and MR so much. DH doesn't look terrible. [Though yes, this hairstyle seems to accentuate the work she has had done.] She is like, 68 years old? [i'm regularly blown away by how great she looks.] But I think MBE and MR have aged in a lovely manner. I this Missy should be given a more forgiving hairstyle but, yeah... I really think they look a lot better than some others who have done a bit too much.

So I didn't get to watch the whole show yet but I totally got the impression John also knew Valerie when J&M visited Abe. It's so weird how they play J&M's history as being even longer than it actually is.

It's so weird how they play J&M's history as being even longer than it actually is. They seem to regularly struggle with understanding the Wayne/Roman and the Drake/Roman histories. And where on earth the Josh Taylor/Roman history would fall into all of this. Drake as Roman, obviously never met Valerie. I haven't seen enough of early Roman [my knowledge starts in '83] to know if the Wayne/Roman ever knew Valerie. *Technically* doesn't Drake have the memories of the pre-death Roman [thru '84?]

This is what Deidre looked like at MR's current age and then at MBE's current age.

I don't disagree about how she often looks now (and I can't really defend LK), but IDK that a lot of these people can really be compared to people who are this far apart in age. Is there anyone on the show close in age to MB or Missy that looks bad? They may still look really good when they're her age, but there's a pretty significant difference even if Days has lumped them all into one age group. Like...I almost think that's more insulting to Missy and MB. They look good while people 20 years older than them have had too much work done? I mean...duh. They're twenty years younger.

Because even last year at the gala, Marlena talked like it was J&M from day one and none of the other stuff lol

I don't think it looks bad at all lately. I don't love it pulled up like today, but I'm just glad she's not wearing one of her hair pieces.
Do the hair pieces make her hair look longer? Because that's when I actually love her hair! No, they just add a lot of volume at the back of her head. It's basically a wig you attach in the middle of your head. Back in the 60's they called it "a fall".

I wish Jennifer was accepting JJ's award on his behalf instead of Roman.
I haven't watched yet so I don't know the entire context, but Jennifer should have been the guest of honor since the fundraiser is for raising money for Aplastic Anemia. She should have accepted his award.

The episode ended pretty good can't wait to see what happens on Monday. FF a little thru Hope and Rafe. I haven't watched long enough to know all the bad things Andre has done in the past but I don't blame him for wanting to get back at Hope she killed his father and framed him for it.
Eh, I never bought that Andre gave two shits about Stefano. He just found out he was his father like two minutes ago.

Did Rafe get an award for something off screen? Back from commercial break and everyone's applauding him as he stands there holding something that looks like an award of some kind. Perhaps an award for being the town's biggest dope?
I have to admit I enjoyed Hope standing there listening to her voice say she killed Stefano over and over. It's like she got caught standing there without her clothes on.
But why was that the last scene and not the magic show making Kayla and Marlena disappear?
They were honoring the first responders during the recent siege. J.J. got the first award but he is still in the hospital recovering. Next Rafe got an award (even though most of his time was spent hovering over Hope worrying about her murder secret). Then Hope was next and as she was standing there we hear her confession over the loudspeaker "I killed Stefano." I guess I totally missed when the assistant mayor gave Rafe an award. I even rewound it to find it but couldn't find it. I only saw after the break he was standing there holding it.

Just for my own part, I didn't mean to make or indulge in any kind of comparison between actors. I do know that MR has been ragged on a lot here in her third run for her looks though, she has been called variations of old lady/granny/hag more than once. My only input was basically to go, "Yeah she looks older, so what?" I think it'd be better for everyone to see more natural examples of looking older on television, I think media is powerful and shapes a lot of attitudes subconsciously and if I had my druthers it'd say that there's just nothing wrong with being older. It's totally natural. Everyone here who's currently in their 20's and 30's (a group of which I am a member) will one day be in their 50's and 60's, barring tragedy, and I think it's better to just not see it as the end of the world.
I've also said before that I don't think it's totally fair to harp on Dee's work, given how harsh standards are (even though they shouldn't be) for women and their looks. And I've always thought she's had pretty good work done as far as that goes.
As for MR, in the future, who knows, she might be a cosmetic surgery nightmare, but I hope not, and I hope she doesn't get the message that fans demand that. It's really no big deal IMO.

Yea the age difference is real. The S&K J&M lumping together will cause confusion though. John as Roman was Kayla's older brother. And now J&M's grandson is S&K's sons age so they're clearly not all the same age No they can still be, I mean Marlena is probably a decade older than Kayla, but I think John and Steve are about the same age (SN is actually 2 yrs older than DHim), Roman being Marlena's age (a bit older) and Bo of course being the youngest of the the 4 men. It can just be explained as Shawn and Belle having a kid at a really young age, maybe right after High School which isn't necessarily a lie since they graduated in 2002 (18) and Belle gave birth in 2005 (21), so there we go. As for S/K with Joey they had him while they were in their late 40s in 2008. and there we go lol!! Plus Joey and Claire are only 3 years apart.
That would camp Hope, Carly, Isabella, and Kristen in the same age range with Jennifer and Billie being a bit younger since after all Billie is younger than Austin... even though that never made sense because of the Austin/Carrie relationship!! ^o)

Regardless of their real life ages. Because bo and Steve were merchant marines together and John as Roman was much older than bo.
I agree Marlena is a good decade older than Kayla.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
It's why I love MBE and MR so much. DH doesn't look terrible. [Though yes, this hairstyle seems to accentuate the work she has had done.] She is like, 68 years old? [i'm regularly blown away by how great she looks.] But I think MBE and MR have aged in a lovely manner. I this Missy should be given a more forgiving hairstyle but, yeah... I really think they look a lot better than some others who have done a bit too much.
I don't think the comparisons do any of them any favors but maybe this will make my earlier point a little better. This is what Deidre looked like at MR's current age and then at MBE's current age. Posted ImagePosted ImageI don't disagree about how she often looks now (and I can't really defend LK), but IDK that a lot of these people can really be compared to people who are this far apart in age. Deidre has always looked spectacular!! her twin must be so jealous!! lol :blulaugh: They haven't really styled her well in recent years and I hate her hair but she still looks gorgeous.
