Another thing about how the women are written. Hope did manage to get rid of Aiden herself. Rafe was useless.

The amount of Gabi and Chad scenes has become ridiculous at this point in comparison to the amount of scenes she has with JJ. JJ's POV has been been neglected while we watch Gabi and Chad spend time together. I swear as Chad's stylist, Gabi has worked with Chad more than any other DE employee recently including Kate and Andre.

JJ's character deserves better than this IMO.

I don't care what they do with JJ/Gabi. They bore me. Chad is the one I care about. They need to start giving him better writing. He's the strongest leading man in his age group.
I care about Chad too. I haven't liked anything he has had with Kate, Andre, and Gabi.

However, I care a lot about JJ and Casey Moss as well. He's been mostly on the backburner for a year and should be positioned as one of the younger leading men on the show. Once again, it looks like he is being cast aside and right now it looks like it's in favor of Chad. At least Billy Flynn has gotten material in the past year or so.

Here's hoping the writing improves for both of them.

Hope is Hope when she is around Steve and Kayla. I like that he called her "Sweet Thing" recently.

Is she? Cause I remember her coming over to see Kayla after Kayla had surgery, talking about herself, and leaving Kay with uber responsible (/sarcasm) Joey.

True, Hope did manage to get Aiden to see the error of his ways, but it's not like Rafe had any faith in Hope's ability to get herself out of the situation she was in. While Hope was helping Aiden with his epiphany, Rafe was busy getting ready to confess to Stefano's murder. I lost track of the number of times Hope asked Rafe to cut it out (when it came to being all "what's going on here" when Aiden was talking to Hope) and told him that she needed him to back down & let her do this by herself.

If Hope & Aiden hadn't arrived at the station when they did, all of Hope's work would've been for not because Rafe would've confessed to Stefano's murder - and then what? Rafe wouldn't have been able to just take back his confession without making everyone more suspicious about why he even confessed in the first place. If Aiden was able to figure out that Hope was indeed guilty of Stefano's murder without too much effort/work, anyone going over the case file would've figured out the same information Aiden did (i.e., that the call to book Stefano's private jet originated in Hope's neighborhood). And so Rafe would've gone to prison for Hope (or forced her to confess to the murder to try to save Rafe from prison, in which case both would've probably gone to prison as it would've been really obvious that Rafe knew that Hope had killed Stefano, thus why he fake-confessed) and Rope wouldn't have been together, even though Aiden was headed out of town.

She was more RealHope with Steve/Kayla than she is with most other people. But again, Hope didn't stay with Steve/Kayla for an entire episode. She shared a few scenes with them & then was off again & lost whatever pieces of RealHope she had had while in scenes with them.

I want to like that they have a female coming to a guy's rescue, but Gabi is dumber than a box of hair and I don't really get why they keep harping on Chad being defenseless (in many ways) when they've made him their male lead. It's weird.
This weird writing choice started when Abby went missing and Chad did nothing but sit on his couch and yell at the people who unlike him were actually doing shit to find his wife. Chad just looks like a weak shmuck who couldn't tie his shoes if he didn't have a woman (Gabi) or a teeanage girl (Ciara) doing it for him. That's not attractive for a leading man.

Also, like, in order for this storyline to work well, I think it would be better if JJ's point of view and his relationship with Gabi was more fleshed out.

However, I think we might have a long number of months of this stuff ahead, so maybe we'll get more from JJ. They really did waste a lot of time not developing JJ/Gabi before this though.

I'm not sure Casey was set aside in favor of anyone in particular. I don't think they knew what to do with him until they thought of Gabi as an issue for Chabby. Maybe it was a lack of foresight, but maybe it was a consequence of writer changes. Someone who is better at keeping track of when things happened and what was taping at what point in time could speculate better about that than I can.

Rafe being a moron and trying to 'fix' things in the dumbest way possible doesn't change that hope handled it herself.

That's very much the real Hope now. All she cares about is herself and she pivots all conversations back to her very fast.

I didn't mean to imply Casey was specifically cast aside for Billy or anyone else. More or less I was saying Chad has gotten his fair share of story while JJ hasn't, which is why right now at least, this story is a little frustrating because JJ isn't getting a lot of POV. I do think we'll see more of JJ given Casey's comments on this story and how much he likes it.

I think CB missing two months of filming for Mistresses hurt the JJabi story if the writers had planned on writing for them then. Gabi was gone for most of May, June, and some of July (onscreen). JJ was dealing with Abby's Shady Hills mess and Jennifer's addiction. That could have been a good time to show Gabi and JJ getting closer and also maybe show how things got somehow tense between the two.

Both Casey Moss and Billy Flynn can act, good writers should be able to write for them both. Right now it just seems like they're just using CM to serve BF's story and they're throwing JJ under the bus so that Chad can get a free pass when he screws Gabi. JJ has no POV but has some contrived off screen secret lol. It's ridiculous.

Gabi comes to Chad's rescue.

Why do the writers have to continue to make Chad look so weak and helpless that he can't do anything on his own?

He's beginning to look worst than Brady, if that's possible. lol
Simple: they need Chad to fall for Gabi, so they're gonna make Gabi the only female who seems to be capable of doing anything on her own just so that she can save Chad & he will be grateful to her for it.

The writers are incapable of writing couples where both halves are strong, independent, & capable of doing things on their own. Hope/Kayla/Marlena (for whatever reason) need Rafe/Steve/John to save them from every trial & tribulation, & the "Kiriakis men" are just a whole other mess of feeling superior & invincible.
Not always true. I remember Marlena saving Steve from certain death in a warehouse not long ago, when they'd gone to save...was it John? from his diabolical father.

I also remember that she and Kayla ducked gunfire recently. They didn't let the fact that bullets were flying stop them. They got to Abe and kept him alive after he'd been shot. Not only that, but Marlena probably saved JJ's life the same week.

I also saw Hope stay with Jennifer in pretty scary circumstances, and she deactivated a bomb, relying on the potentially faulty memory of Eduardo. If he'd remembered wrong, the bomb would've blown the pub to smithereens with them inside it.

I get tired of Hope's preoccupation with her love life, too. Her love life shouldn't BE the main topic of conversation when Jennifer's dealing with a drug addiction and the recent "death" of her daughter, or when Kayla is just out of the hospital after having had brain surgery.

But she's capable of saving herself and others, and so are Marlena and Kayla. They've proven that many times.

It's just that since Hope got with Rafe, she was written as though she couldn't make a decision on her own.

It's one reason I don't like the Hope/Rafe pairing.

She was gone for two months? I didnt even notice... Guess that shows how much I care about Gabi :roflol:

But I will say I do like her a lot more now than I did during the Nick era 2013-14 or even when she was a teen. I just don't like how they're forcing her on Chad all the time now. I do agree that there's been a lack of focus on JJ, we should've seen more of him in Miami or Shady Hills trying to figure out what happened to Abigail or sharing secret phone conversations with Laura or something. A story where JJ and Gabi worked together and found out Laura and Andre were hiding Abby and convinced her to come home would've been far more interesting than this quadrangle they're trying to build, it's so cliche and reminds me of slightly similar past storylines that Dena herself wrote involving EJ/Nicole/Taylor, Rafe/Sami/EJ, Daniel/Chloe/Philip/Melanie, Nathan/Melanie/Philip/Stephanie/Choe/Daniel and all that mess.

I totally called Abby being referred to as a mystery woman, lol. The wordings of these spoilers are so predictable sometimes
The mysterious woman is Andre's twin sister
Is she going to have had facial reconstruction surgery to look like Kristen..?
